Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for Monday Oct 15

Cathlete
Morning Maniacs-

I didn't drag myself out of bed until 4:00 am. I hate getting up this late. I'm not motivated at all.....but I'm going to do my M&F workout. I am looking forward to hitting the heavy bag though. Hopefully I'll do some yoga also. Be back in a bit.

So today was legs. Most hated workout day for me but I had an excellent workout. My legs are still shaking right now so I know I had a good workout.

Quads
1 min. rest between everything
Squats:
75# - 15
85# - 12
95# - 10/10
***Went to parellel with each of these sets and it felt great on the glutes!

Bulgarian Split Squats:
80# - 10/10/10 each leg (up 5# & PB)
***Love/hate these.

Leg Extensions:
100# - 10/12/12
***I like doing these, my quads always feel so pumped when I get done with them.

Hamstrings
1 min. rest between everything
Barbell Elevated SLDL:
85# - 10
90# - 10/10 (up 5# & PB)
***I can't believe I am up to 90# on these. NEVER thought I'd get up this high ever again.

Hamstring Curls:
60# - 12/10/8 (up 5#)
***Hamstrings gave out quickly with these. I was tired.

Calves
Gym Style Calf Raises
***Why is it in this workout that when Cathe & gang start to do this exercise everyone's bars are stripped of weights except for Cathe's? I find that funny every time I do these.

That is all.

Good Morning Maniacs!!!

Today I am thinking of just doing abs. My entire body is sore. I had a hard time just walking yesterday from my leg weight workout on Sat.

I ended up doing my M&F for Her - Time To Burn Fat - Day one workout. I hit the heavy bag so hard and it felt so good to get that frustration out..however, I felt some twinges of pain in my shoulder on the one side that's flaring with pain. I used ankle weights and dumbbells for the ab work. For the cardio bursts, I did football running and high knees on the Rebounder, Speed Skaters, Gliding and Speed Skaters with the gliding discs. Tunes were Flyleaf & Papa Roach. Papa Roach is such great workout music and I was in the middle of the CD when my workout was over and I didn't want to stop!! LOL. Cathe should use some P Roach in her next series!! LOL!!! Workout was 71 minutes and I burned 565 calories. I then did Slim & Sleek Pilates - Ab segment with band 10" and the Stretch segment 10".

Finished off with Ravi & Ana's Yoga Quick Fixes - So Long Sciatica 7" and Inflammation 6", as well as AM Yoga with Barbara Benagh - Wake Up and Get Going Segment 15". The latter had some wonderful upper back and shoulder opening that felt good and it's filmed on my favorite beach for yoga...........Half Moon Bay in Antigua. So gorgeous. I've been craving beach scenery workouts since I've been struggling with this depression.

Have great workouts everyone.

Deb - great workout -- I hate working legs. Listening to Papa Roach while working them would help!! Do you like Korn at all? I like some of the songs on the radio but I never had a CD. Do you like 3 Days Grace? I have One-X by them and it's good.....although, it's not Rock/rap. Do you like them?

Toasty - good going on the body soreness.

Diane Sue - Do you enjoy that All Body Cardio workout with Sharon? It's toughie.....at least, I think so. So far, I'm very pleased with my new pillow. It's nice to wake up in the morning and have my spine feel elongated and open/stretched (hard to describe) rather than compressed and smushed like I usually felt. Have you ever had a physical therapist or doctor give you manual traction on your neck? It feels very good....and that's what that pillow does. It's amazing, but as soon as you lay your head down on the pillow in the proper spot...you can feel the traction start.

Suz - Thanks for the link on the oils. I appreciate it. Meant to mention that I feel like nobody ever reads my long posts somtimes too. Every one here is always so busy and I don't think they appreciate my books!! LOL. I need a job......so I can be busy too. I was livid yesterday cuz the only job in the paper was a huge add for the Temp Agency I'm signed up with ....saying they needed Secretaries and Receptionists.........what am I, chopped liver?

Lora - Yes, I love Korn. In fact, I was at FYI and was looking at their CD's. I'd like to get a couple but the prices at that store is unreal. I love 3 Days Grace and I also have One-X, great CD!

Char - Good to hear you're sore! LOL! :)

Lora,

Everything is easier when I am listening to AC/DC. Just works for me. I need to get some Papa Roach cd's as I haven't bought any yet. I do need new music.

Suz,

Love your new avatar picture. Wish I had some ladies to ride with. I think I must have scared off my new pupil as she doesn't come around to workout with me anymore. :p x(

Deb - have you ever heard 3 Day's Grace's older CD? I've been thinking of getting it. Maybe I'll head over to Amazon later and sample tracks from that and Korn.....although my DH will probably make fun of me if I get Korn...cuz he doesn't like them. Some of their songs always make me get up and groove when they come on!

Toasty - YOU MUST head over to Amazon or CDUniverse and pick up a Papa Roach CD NOW!!!! Get The Paramour Sessions first, Getting Away with Murder second and Love Hate Tragedy third!! They are all good, but the first one is EXCELLENT. Not a bad song on it....trust me girl! You'll be pumping iron for 2 hours straight. It's so motivating.

I finished my workout. I ended up doing Ripped 1000. Later this week I will do some super sets. That is if Cathe's new ones don't arrive. I needed to burn some calories since I ate poorly yesterday. Ate a lot of lowfat graham crackers. I also had cereal. Now I feel puffy. I am trying to get an appointment for a haircut. I have been on hold for a long time.

Lora, I have very fine thin hair that has a tendency to wave and frizz. I usually just have it cut off in a blunt cut. I found a cute style in the newspaper that has some longer layering and bangs. It is above the shoulder. I haven't had my hair that short in awhile. I recently had dh cut my hair off because it was getting so long it would roll up under my foam roller and get caught in my arm pit. I have been using Sexy hair straightening balm to help the ends of my hair and it works great. Flat irons ruin my hair and make it break off quickly. I personally don't get tired of your posts. I am disappointed when I look and no one is saying anything.

Debbie great workout.

Charlotte, did you scare that co worker off? LOL That's great that you are feeling your workout.

Good morning ladies! I have back and chest later today! :)

Diane Sue: How old is your grand daughter? Mine is 5 :)

Debbie: Great leg routine today. I used to do legs on Monday; the trainer wanted me to have extra rest between the upper body workouts, so now legs are placed on Wednesday. I always like getting legs over with first, lol! ;)

Last week when I was getting over being sick, my hamstrings wore out real quick. Weird.

Toasty: Yay on full-body soreness! :D To me, that is the best indication that I've pushed myself. I love DOMS.

Lorajc: Was that a kickboxing workout? I love kickboxing! :)

I have noticed alot of ladies do yoga in here. I used to do some yoga, never got back into it - yoga is so good for flexibility.

Have a great Monday ladies! :)

Penney

Penney, I have 3 granddaughters and 2 grandsons another grandbaby due in March. The granddaughters that I take to school are 7 and 11 years old. So I drop one off at middle school and one off at the elementary school:) Right now the youngest two grandchildren are 7.

Lora, I really like All Body Cardio. It is tough and I have to feel up for it. I like all of the athletic type moves and the use of the step and risers.

Char - I think you'd like Papa Roach. Their music is good.

Lora - Yes, I downloaded 3 Days Grace's older songs and like them too. Good stuff!

Penney - As you know, I HATE leg day. Hope you have a great workout! Can't wait to read what you do. How is your challenge going? Would you mind posting your stats here? When is the challenge over?

Diane Sue - Great going with Ripped 1000. I bet we do get our Cathe DVD's this week. I'm looking forward to seeing the 4 day split. I hope to get new ideas for some exercises with those workouts.

Randi - Hope you see this. I posted a leg blast rotation on the DVD rotation forum.

Diane Sue: That's nice you drop them off at school :) Congrats on the gb on the way! :D

Debbie: I will post my stats here. I was struggling with diet (don't we all at some point??) so my bodyweight has gone up, unfortunately, but I am leaner (can tell by how the bones and veins are showing up in my hands and wrists, and my waist has stayed the same despite the weight gain). My workouts are very good and consistent. I have stepped the cardio up some (I am up to 2 hours weekly, and I plan on upping it to 3 hours weekly). My eating has calmed down over the past week, so I expect a weight drop on Friday's weigh-in.

The Challenge runs through the 2nd week of December (I think).

Hey Maniacs! I did Drill Max this morning. Felt easier than the last time I did it (awhile ago) so, I must be getting in pretty good shape. I'm sure it's the biking. Dh and I have been working for days trying to get this %&^$&#% bird to quit SCREECHING! We've acutally done a pretty good job so far. He's gotten so bad that I can't even lay on the couch because he can't see me and he'll screech to the high heavens because I all the sudden disappeared. So far throwing a blanket over his cage when he squawks and immediatley taking it off when he stops seems to be working *Keeping fingers crossed on this*. I hate to say it, but I can't live with an out-of-control squawky bird...I can't! He is dd's bird and she can't afford to keep him right now because her rent will go up. She's already paying extra for the new Bald puppy, so she can't afford another rent increase.:(

I've gotta get back to work (with %@&&%$* bird on shoulder), so I'll get to personals in a bit.:)

Penney - Ok, that would be cool if you kept it updated here. That way I can see how you are doing.

Dallys - I HATE birds that chirp or sqreech continuously. Drives me insane! I hope you get it under control. If not, antifreeze works wonders. }(

Penney - The M&F Time to Burn Fat workouts combine cardio and weights. The one I did today has a heavy bag circuit in it. It was from the July/Aug issue. There are actually 2 or 3 different workouts by different personal trainers. I'm doing the first one from that issue that has 2 different days. It's fun and tough. I'm modifying on the Rebounder since my stress fracture is not totally healed in my foot yet.

Diane Sue - Is Sexy the brand? I'll have to look for that. I'm always in search of good straightening and defrizzing products. I don't know what the heck to do with my hair. I wish my beautician would suggest something.....but she doesn't. When I get a job...I may try to find another stylist. I really love that long layered bob that I mentioned above. Only, I like it shoulder length and a LOT longer in the front than the back. Carly on General Hospital has hers cut like that and it's really fresh looking................sigh.......wish I had straight hair!! My stylist told me you won't even notice the cut on someone with wavy or curly hair. Your "so called" day of bad eating makes me look horrific!! I've had a couple caramel apples lately with pecans that were birthday presents for my DH and I and a little bit of chocolate over the weekend and my Mom made a bundt cake and I had a piece at lunch over there today!! I can't resist that stuff .....and when I'm depressed, I "emotional eat"....which is not good, I know!

Deb - I'll have to check out the older 3 Day's Grace stuff. Haven't had time yet.

Hey again! :) So far, my bird has been pretty good today. Although, Carma is all sprawled out on my good chair and she's not supposed to be in that chair! It's like my critters are taking over the house. LOL!

Debbie Great leg workout! I've never noticed that in GSlegs. I'll have to remember to look for the missing weights. Skreeching birds are like finger nails on the chalk board. I love the singing and cooing they do, but that ear piercing screaming stuff has got to go!

Char I love listening to AC/DC too! I also get really good workouts with Guns and Roses.}(

Penney What competition are you doing? I had no clue you were doing one.

Diane Sue I have the same type hair as you do, I think. I recently got a shorter (slight A-line) layered cut with bangs and really like it. I'll have to check out that Sexy hair straightening balm.

Lora LOL!, I'm also feeling like I'm writting long meaningless posts that are of interest to no one (like who really cares about my bird drama? LOL!). Personally, I really like it when all of us get to talking. I get bored when we all just post our workout for the day and that's it. So, I think we should all BS more around here.:)

Suz Interesting about your step moms weight and yours. I'm still working on my lose 10 in 10. I think I'm on about week 400!:p
If you have any bird advice for me, I'll give you a free cockatiel.:p

Dallys, it's a Biggest Loser challenge on the other board I go to, bb.com. I'm not doing real well right now in the weight loss department, 'cause my eating has been autrocious.

My workouts have been great. I need to transfer some of that discipline to my nutrition, lol.

Today's Chest/Back workout

Chest Press: 2x12x60, 12x65
:D
5 lb gain from last week on the last set. Yeah! Decreasing the reps by just 3 makes a huge difference in weight pulled.

DB Incline: 3x12x15
I am getting stronger on this one, too. The 10's felt way too light last week. I love this exercise.

Cable Fly: 15x20, 2x25, 12x20
Wow! Who would've thunk just 5 measly lbs would make all that difference? :p

Assisted Chins: 3x12x130
I am very pleased with my progress on the assisted chins. Down 10 assist lbs from last week :+

Cable Row: 2x15x40, 15x50
I gained on this one, too. Wooohooo! :D

Low Back Extension: 2x15x180, 15x200 (PR)
I was excited to reach 200 lbs for reps on the back extension. I know it's a relativly easy movement, but I REALLY felt it when I did the 200 lb set. This is the first exercise that I have delt with that went above my bw :D

Cardio: 30 minutes on the treadmill, 3.8 mph, steady state
I sweated a little, so it counted in my book ;)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That's all folks! :)
Penney - I wish I knew how these ladies on this thread stayed so strict with their diet. I don't think I have it in me....honestly.....plus these high intensity workouts make me famished! I wish it were easier. Hopefully, I'll get better once I get back to work. Good luck on the diet....and your workout looks great. Good going.
Dallys- please don't kill the poor little birdy (just kidding...I know you won't). I also like it when we all BS around here. Some day soon (hopefully), I'll be at work all day and won't be able to BS as much....so I guess I better get it all out now!!
Suz - I'm still jealous of your mean and lean bod!! You are the woman!
Don't shoot me everyone.....but I'm exicited about Cathe's new series, but not "super" excited cuz .....as you all can tell, I NEED lots of variety, so I'm sure I'll tire of them quickly. I'm hoping the music is better than that Cindi Lauper crap she had on the last series. I can't even do some of those workouts cuz of some of those songs getting stuck in my head. Does anyone know what kind of music we can expect?? I also need to get 30 and 35 pound DBs and don't have money for them.....so I'm a bit bummed about that. Also, need clearance from my foot doctor to jump on it.
Speaking of jumping, are jumping jacks actual jumping or high impact. I'm not sure if I should be doing them yet.
