Morning Fitness Maniacs -

This morning I did about 55 minutes of Seasun's Straight Up Step (with warm up & cool down) followed by 10 minutes of New York Pilates Ab section.

I finally got to the last segment of this step tape. I didn't pick it up all of the way, but I did enough to have fun with it. I'm pretty good at the first part now. I really love this step tape. It's so much fun (for me at least).

Ugh....I don't feel like going to work today. I've got a horrible migraine. At least my boss won't be there until Thurs. I've got to go to the dentist after work today and for my trigger point injections tomorrow...joy.

Have great workouts everyone. I'll check in from work later.

Good Morning Maniacs!!!

Yesterday I decided to workout biceps/triceps and shoulders to the Express Cathe videos I have. Today I will work chest/back to the Express videos and then do some plyo's.

I quit my job. Hubby sensed I was bothered by the way things were starting to get there and missing home, etc. so we talked about it and here I am again. I miss being home. The hours at the bank were just getting longer and longer too and I was told from the beginning I would work from 8-2 or 11-5. Instead the hours were getting longer and longer. Today I was suppose to work 10 hours.

Charlotte~~

This morning I did the Step part of Step, Jump & Pump and then all of Step Blast (skipping the warmup). Had an excellent cardio workout! It was about an hour and 15 minutes. I was in my zone for an hour and two minutes and burned 415 calories! My HR seems to go up faster in this heat. I like that!

Lora - I read your post around quarter to 6 this morning yet the time posted on your workout was after 9 a.m. Its not even 9 here yet. What is up with time on this forum? Weird!

Charlotte - wow, surprised to hear that! But good for you! I'm sure you will be happier staying home! I'm excited for you! :)

Have great workouts everyone! Back to the ol' grindstone. Oh joy.

Good Morning Maniacs!

I'm back. I had such a busy weekend. I had my best friend over for the weekend and it was great, we hadn't seen each other in 10 yrs, so this was wonderful to reconnect! They left to go back home on Sunday afternoon. Didn't get a w/o in Saturday or Sunday. I did Amy Bento's Body Pump, and I upped my weight and it pretty much kicked my booty! Didn't do a w/o this morning and that's only cause I didn't get myself prepared last night, so I'm gonna work out hard this afternoon!
Sounds like everyone had a great weekend!

Lora - very good w/o you did. How is your sciatia? sp?

Charlotte - I am waiting for the day that I can quit work, hubby and I are trying our best to get out of some of our debt, so I can or at least then I could just work part time. It's not worth it if you're not happy in your job. I would be happy if I could work part time or maybe go to a four day work week! Good work out you did!

Debbie - Can you give me the low max extended w/o? You can email me at [email protected] or [email protected]. Sounds like you had a great w/o as well!

Got to get to work end of the month here, along with payroll that I'm still waiting on everyone to get in to me! UGH!

Hello to everyone else out there, I'll be back on later! Hope everyone has a great day! :)

Morning,

This morning's workout was 1/2 hour of TJ Cardio Party and then I did Yoga Shakti, programming the matrix. I ran out of time, but enjoyed putting my own workout together. Included some core work (couldn't do the levitation things, but oh well). After work tonite will do Cardio Coach #3 on the bike. Worked out on the Bowflex last night with DH.

Sandy, sounds like a great time getting together with your friend. enjoy your workout this afternoon, bet you will be really strong after a couple days off.

Charlotte, sorry the job didn't work out to be in your best interest. Will you try to find something else? Wish I could stay home, just 8 more years until retirement for me. I couldn't stand the working on weekends thing at all. I briefly considered becoming a correctional officer (prison guard) as the retirement, wages, benefits are fantastic but I'd lose all seniority and forget about getting weekends/holidays off for many years. The money just didn't motivate me enough.

Lora, hope your migraine eases up soon. No fun, I'm sure, but glad your boss won't be in for a while. Thanks so much for the Yoga Shakti DVD recommendation. I really enjoyed the little 1/2 hour I did this morning. I will try to take these good feelings to work with me today, should be busy as I'll be the only support staff out of 3 that are usually there.

Debbie, way to go on calories burned, 400 some, wow!

*listens to the crickets chirping* It's quiet on this thread today! Usually I log on this late and I can barely read through all of the threads... Hopefully everyone is enjoying a nice sleep followed by a great workout!

Charlotte - you did the best thing by quitting. I've heard banks do that - promise you short hours, but if you turn out to be good, they add and add until you're almost working full time, but have no benefits. Good luck in which ever direction you choose to take!

Debbie - as always, an admirable workout! I love Step Blast.

Lora - sorry to hear you have a migrane! Have as much fun as possible with pyscho boss gone until Thursday! Hope you feel better soon and can enjoy it!

Sandy - I don't think I welcomed you to the thread - welcome! I love reconnecting with old friends - isn't it wonderful? Glad you had a good time!

Jeanette - I have trouble with the levitation holds, too. I find if I use dumbbells to prop myself up I'm slightly more successful. I always feel as if my arms are too short to be able to do those.

I did 1/2 an hour of Rhythmic Step this morning before the old legs just told me "No Bloody Way!" I realized that I burned well over half the calories I normally burn off in a week in 2 days, so maybe going easier today would not be a bad thing... :)

Hi Everyone -

Busy day...yikes. I have a question for everyone. I've been pretty sore over the last few days. I keep having to go look back at my exercise log to see what I did cuz I'm pretty sore in different places. I know recovery weeks are no picnic (from P90X experience), so is it okay that I'm this sore and this is supposed to be my recovery week? I looked back to see what I did -- Sat - Step and Source Power Yoga (very hard yoga), Sun YBB Aerobics, Yoga Core (core/yoga/pilates fusion) and pilates abs, Monday - Gunnar Functional Fitness with weights, med ball- and 90 min Power Yoga and today was Step Aerobics and pilates abs. I also did pushups on the floor (that I'm not allowed to do...and I'm feeling that a bit in my shoulders/pain).

I thought this sounded okay....but I'd like your opinions. I'm thinking I'm probably going to take a total rest day this coming Saturday and just stretch that day (I always say that and then when I get up Sat. morning, I feel raring to go....so I workout). I'm also extremely thirsty today. It's really humid here...but I'm wondering if there could be another reason.

Thanks for all of the well wishes with the migraine. I took a Zomig...which makes it bearable but it's still there.

Sandy - thanks for asking about my sciatica. It's a little better. I massaged it out last night lying on my Yamuna balls.

Charlotte - Wow! Lucky you getting to quit your job. I wish I could quit. I only have about 15 more years to go.

I'm baaaack! I just didn't have time to post this weekend. I missed you all.

This morning I did 45 minutes of lifting legs, shoulders and triceps (only a couple exercises for tris since it wasn't on my list today). I did the BFL pyramiding - Walking lunges: 12 reps @ 35#, 10R @ 40#, 8R @ 50#, 6R @ 60# and 12R @ 50# then deadlifts - one set of 12 @ 40# plus the bar. Bowflex leg extensions: 12R @ 60#, 10R @ 70#, 8R @ 80#, 6R @ 90#, 12R @ 80# then squats - 20R @ 30# plus the bar. Bowflex lying leg curls: 12R @ 30#, 10R @ 40#, 8R @ 50#, 6R @ 60#, 12R @ 50#. Then I did shoulders, presses, side raises, front raises and then triceps. I would type out all the weight, but the above took too long. :) After that I did 45 minutes of hill climbing on the bike on the Computrainer.

I did NOTHING yesterday for a workout and will also have to take off Thursday as I have a seminar in Denver. DH gets to go too. Yay! I'm feeling pretty bad about 2 days off this week. Lora - that would push you over the edge, I'm sure!

Lora - I bet you're sore b/c you've added in pilates and you're using muscles you aren't used to using. I hope your migraine goes away. Every time you mention Zomig it reminds me of my awful experience with it. I'm so glad it works for you!!!

Charlotte - you go girl! We need you more than they do anyway. But I must say, I was looking forward to hearing how it went when you "struck a pose" with them. They didn't know who they were messing with. I'm like Lora - I have about 18 years left until I can retire. Boo hoo. My dream would have been to be a stay-at-home mom. If you can't have kids though, that plan is sort of out the window. How about a stay-at-home dog/bird mom??? :p

Debbie - GREAT workout as usual! I sort of took your two body part a day workout idea today. If I can stick to legs once a week, I might keep doing it. But...I'm struggling with that and worrying about fat legs.

Sandy - glad you had a great weekend. I hope your workout today rocks!

Jeanette - can you tell me more about TJ? You all talk about it and now I think I must have it. Is it all cardio? Look what you've all done to me with yoga!

Christine - give those tired legs the rest they deserve! You've been working so hard!

Have a great day everyone!

Suz

Good afternoon,
I got a late start this morning. I bought shelving for one of my workout room clsets. I have been organizing my workouts dvds and equipment as well of my grandchildrens videos. I am trying to make more room in my workout area. Then I can buy more stuff:) I did Cardio party#3 stopping at the cooldown and then did Punch Kick & Jam no w/u and stopping at the tubing work, I then did Bowflex and free weights lower and triceps same as last week. I followed this with Yoga Shatki basic flow, and supine poses. We are thinking of taking our fifth wheel camping this weekend so I may have two days off. We do some walking when we go camping though.

Charlotte that is good you quit. I would hate all of those hours. I am sure you will be much happier.

Hi to everyone,I really do need to finish in my workout room and get some housecleaning done.

Hello again,

Okay, I've got to do something to kick my metabolism in gear. I've put on 8 lbs. Would it be best for me to continue what I'm doing, which is cardio, weights, then cardio. Since getting back into it, I've tried to w/o at least 5 days a week. Switching off from cardio one day, then weights the next. What would be a good routine/rotation to follow, to kick start my fat loss again? Help please!!!:)

I've heard that lifting weights alone is good to burn fat, but is that really true???

Thanks. Hope everyone here has a great afternoon.

Christine - Hi, and thanks for the welcome! I'm learning so much here, and lovin it!

Sandy - Sorry I can't be of help regarding the weightloss. I'm having a similar problem. I recently gained a few pounds and it won't budge either. Have you ever done a Cathe FatLoss Rotation? I'm thinking of starting the Hardcore Fatloss one and alternating it with the split Strength Hardcore Rotation. Do you have the Hardcore Series? Maybe you can do it with me?

Sandy - I think you have to find what works for you. In my case, lifting weights keeps my fat off better than cardio. I do alternating days of weights and cardio and that works great for me. I have read a lot recently that people should cut down on cardio and do more weight training as lifting weights builds muscle and for your body to heal your muscle it takes more metabolism to do so. Its interesting. I've always had excellent results with weight training. Heck, back in my 20's thats all I did. I didn't know what cardio was and I was 115 lbs. and lean.

Well, I did Cardio Coach #3 today on my bike. I really liked the sprints. Coach Sean motivated me greatly. Loved this one, now I got to get the others!

Christine, I've done that before, started a workout and thought better of it. You'll come back stronger than ever by resting up some.

Lora, hope the migraine is gone now. Heck, with the workouts you do, I'd certainly be sore, but I'm a big sissy.

Suz, I like the Turbo Jams, but I only have the original which isn't all that intense compared to the newer ones. I like the music in these a lot. Nice change of pace. I like to "bust my move" or whatever Chalene says, freestyle it! I think it's fun. Don't know where there is a clip. Lora or Diane Sue could probably tell you about the newer ones. Glad you are back, girl! Hope you've been able to ride. I rode tonite (Cardio Coach #3 out on the road) and will ride Thursday night with the ladies, probably a climbing ride. We're hoping to do a long ride on Sunday.

Diane Sue, I like the way you mix and match your workouts. Sounds like you got a good one in. Have a good camping trip for me, (sniff), guess ours just wasn't meant to be this last weekend.

Sandy, hope you find a rotation that will help. I've been easing up on the cardio lately and doing okay with my weight, but probably the old bod will figure it out pretty soon and then I'll have to trick it again. I can't win...

Have a good evening,

Jeanette
