Morning Maniacs -
This morning I did 1/2 hour of Bosu Fusion Cardio with Rob Glick, 40 minutes of Gunnar's Core Secrets with the Agility Ladder "Arms, Legs & Everything in Between" and then a 5 minute pilates ab workout. I then did 85 minutes of Mark Blanchard's Power Yoga "Foundation" (for you Debbie).
Okay Debbie - what....are you trying to kill me? I will never do anything else (aside from a little easier cardio before it) with one of his 90 minute yoga DVDs again.
Dallas - to answer your question - YES, Mark's yoga is harder than Bryan's. I haven't done Bryan for a while, but I don't ever remember feeling like this after a Bryan tape. I'm like jello. I almost couldn't make it down the stairs to put the laundry in. If I can walk tomorrow and move, maybe I'll try that WillPower & Grace DVD for you! We'll see.
Here's a bit about each workout....all of which were functional fitness based and I think I OD'd my poor body on FF today. I'm shaking all over and feel like jello. I hope I can walk tomorrow.
Sorry this is long due to the reviews.
All I can say about the Bosu is that it's fun. Rob is a good instructor (but sort of gay sounding) and again Chalene is a background exerciser along with Gay Gasper. It got my HR up and it worked the heck out of my legs and core. I almost couldn't keep up doing the sports drills at one point. It is hard for me.
On to Gunnar - Again, I think these are more advanced than his previous offerings...but again, I did this as an add on after the Bosu so I think I may have felt it a bit more. Lots of pushups in this and plank walking in the agility ladder, as well as agility foot work in the ladder. The weight portions focused mainly on triceps and chest, whereas the other total body (new one) focused more on biceps and lats (which I found kind of cool). The ab work was tougher than in the past and I used a 5 # med ball. Good functional fitness DVD.
Okay - The Foundation - Sedona Series with Mark Blanchard 85 minute Power Yoga. Whoa Dude. Is he tryin' to kill me? I'll never do a FF weight workout before this. This moved slower than the Flow that I did last week (60 min) and it had tons of balancing postures. We were on our feet doing standing postures for 65 minutes. He does balance work starting out for about 10 minutes on one leg and 10 minutes on the other leg. I thought I was gonna die. My legs were shakin' and I was weeble wobbly all over the place. He goes straight from holding your leg out to the front side and across the body into balancing stick, standing splits, reverse moon, etc. KILLER segment. After that, I thought we'd move to the floor...but no.. we did more sun saluations, standing poses (most everything is done where you hold poses longer so this really is a strengthing workout). He threw some balancing arm postures in a while back...crow. Some side planks, etc. Then after the sun sal's and standing postures, he goes into more balancing postures......by this time......for sure I was shakin' and weeble/wobbling. I was praying to go down to the floor. We finally go down to the floor but only to do full wheel, shoulder stands, plough and then some seated forward bends with some harder twists where you wrap your arms around your leg (hard to explain) and it really gets a stretch into your intrascapular area). Finally you lay down and pull your leg over to stretch your spine and then final relaxation.
Debbie - I was gonna ask you why this bothered your back. I didn't feel it during the workout, but my lower and mid back are definitely feeling worked now. The Bosu tends to do this to me also. You've gotta do this whole thing and let me know what you think. I think I'll wait a while before I even try The Culmination which is 98 minutes long!!
Attention - Yoga Ladies - Please check out the thread from yesterday, as I posted the link to Shiva's Trance Dance DVD from the VF forum and I also found this guy, Duncan Wong that sounds interesting. Check out his credentials and what he teaches and tell me what you think. If you have time. I ordred these in hopes they'd be good for my shoulders, neck, disc, etc.
Off to soak my poor body in the tub. There isn't enough Epsom Salt in the world for me today.
Toasty: AM I seeing that rotation you sent me correctly? You do a weight day and then a circuit day all week?
Have great workouts or rest days. We're going to see An American Haunting today.
bye for now......I'll be back. Sorry this is so long. If you ladies want me to quit with the lengthy reviews.....just tell me and I won't be offended.
