Hardcore Fitness Maniacs Check-In for Monday 4/24

Ab Ripper X is very different from a Cathe workout in that he does 25 of each exercise, except the last where he does 50 of those. Some of the moves are very challenging (the Fifer Scissors come to mind - you lay on your back, with legs straight - one up at 90 degrees, one down an inch above the mat - and SLOWLY alternate 25 times - OUCH!), but others are not too bad. I no longer get DOMS from this, but the first few times I did big time. I enjoy it - and it's only 15 minutes, which is nice. But I like to mix things up.

I am enjoying the series. It really is like walking into the boys gym. It's a guy series, and a tough one at that. That being said, I will sub some of the workouts every now and again. For example I'm thinking of subbing IMax 3 for Plyo X tomorrow - not that I don't like Plyo X but I get bored doing the same thing over and over - and sometimes I want to play with the girls - not that Cathe is easier - IMax 3 is actually tougher than Plyo X.

Dallas-Lora gets back Thursday morning(at least she said she would see us then).

Terri-Let us know when you hear something about Dave and his job interview. The headache is better thank goodness. Thanks for asking. I thought I would go outside and relax for a while but the neighbor decided to mow and I am allergic to grass so I thought I had better come it. Stupid neighbor!! LOL! How is your dad doing?

Christine-Thanks for the review. Are you looking to gain muscle, lose wieght or both? Just curious as to what your goals are.

Sabrina-Dad is doing ok. I just never know for sure with him so I check in on him daily. He seems to have never re-gained all his strength after his hospital stay.

Debbie-I have never done any p90x either but it sounds tempting :)

Terri

Terri - I'm actually looking to do both. It's a very weight intensive series, but I'm adding running to it, so I won't get the full definition you'd get if you did the series as is. I can tell, however, that I'm making gains even after a week.

Hey Ladies!!

Ahhh...I love Mondays...NOT!!

Anyway, I did some elliptical at lunch to warm-up and then I did a nice leg and shoulder routine. I did shoulders between legs...worked out rather nicely.

Christine - I read that you are going to begin training for a marathon...awesome! I know you can do it!! You have given yourself a good amount of time to work up to it...you're less likely to injure yourself this way. Glad you are seeing progress with your current rotation.

Terri - So you changed your mind on the workout huh? Once you get in the swing of running outside, it's hard to bring it back in. So far, I haven't had a problem with it...but I can certainly understand.

Dallas - Can't wait to hear about your PT appointment...

Did you guys check out the "guns" on Dallas...awesome!!

Sabrina - Dang! Sorry about those allergies...wish I could offer you some relief.

Hey guys...you know I've got this cardio coach (vol 5). Haven't done it yet...haven't listened to it either. Do I need to listen to it before I do it or can I just play it and go? Will it be obvious what to do?

Hello to the rest of you!! I'll be around...

Marietta -

Could very well be a case of biting off more than I can chew! I tend to get all hot and heavy about something, then get bored. I do want to start really running again, so a goal like a marathon - with others going with me for accountability - works well. It will be interesting as I've always said that I'm not built to run a marathon. I love to push through the barriers I set for myself.

The picture - to get it to come up in the message, I think it has to be hosted on another website. You can upload it to imageshackus.com, then copy and paste the URL here - it should work.

I just thought I would make a quick pop in here. I am back home with my daughter. Her surgury went well. We won't know for sure how well till we get the pathology results in a few days. They did not find a tumor when they got in though. They removed an ovary and fallopian tube. She has endometriosis. I have more family coming in a few minutes and am geting the little girls ready for dance class. No workout today.

Nicole I hope things went well with your son's today.

Terri and Nicole I posted some thoughts on yesterdays checkin on the Turbo Jams. Not sure if you saw them.

Debbie, yes I saw your answer on the iron. I posted but will tell you here. I have to much iron in my system. It could be harmful to add more. The doctor said to avoid iron in my supplements.

I need to run. Hi everyone.

Marietta ~ You're making me blush!!! I should have said that in my Disney thread too! My arms are nothing like you ladies. You all are so inspiring! I love this check in! I'll let you know how this afternoon goes.

Diane Sue ~ Thanks for posting. It hit me this afternoon that's where you were. I'll keep her in my prayers.

Nicole ~ How's it going for you today? Oh my, you have your hands full. Thank goodness your dh is helping you today. Please let us know if everything is OK.

Sabrina ~ I think you asked me some Disney questions. I'll have to go re-read.

Thanks Christine for the review. I've heard somewhere before that it's called Ab Skipper. lol.

Got to run!

Dallas

Diane Sue - yes, thanks for posting. Keeping your DD in my prayers while you're awaiting those results. I know how tough that wait is. {{{HUGS}}}

This evening I did both workouts from my Karen Voight's DVD - Yoga Focus. I really love these workouts. The one is a power yoga workout that is around 30 minutes. The second one is a stretch workout that runs about 25 minutes. I really love it. I was so tight everywhere before I started these workouts and now I'm loose and relaxed.

I have a really tight muscle running down the left side near my hip. It hurts bad sometimes and I have no idea what is causing it. Stretching seems to help for a little while and then it gets tight again. Its very frustrating.
