Hardcore Fitness Maniacs Check-In for Monday 4/24

Hope no one minds me posting first. I didn't see a start of the thread so I thought I'd get it started.

This morning I did Leaner Legs and I'm almost ashamed to say I've never done this workout before. I loved it! I was always afraid of it because of all the deadlifts. I can't do deadlifts due to my low back. Instead, I substituted hamstring press on the stability ball and roll-ins. It worked out very well! I love the ab work in this workout as well.

WD-in case you didn't see my answer to your question from yesterdays post, the Amino Max does have iron in it. Can I ask why you can't take iron? Does it make you sick? Iron usually makes me sick when I take it alone, but when I take Amino Max, it doesn't bother me.

Hope everyone has excellent hardcore workouts today!

Hello Maniacs!!!

Yesterday I ran for 6 miles in the pouring rain (did a high jog the last 20 mins inbetween steady). Left the house and looked like a nice day...got to track and it just poured! I actually like running in the rain, it was refreshing!!!! When I got back I mowed, planted flowers and then I worked chest/back. DH came in to spot me when I do the pullovers with 45# over my head. I do 3 sets of 8's usually, but went to only 5 by the last set. DH did 3 sets of 10 with these too. We took turns. It challenged him.

Today I have to finish mowing, take DD car to shop for service and the do abs. Will ride bike with son when he gets home from school. Probably go into town again. It is going to be a beautiful day here.

Debbie,

I have leaner legs now, but haven't done this workout yet. I will substitute it for PLB when I am suppose to do PLB again.

Have great sweaty workouts everyone!

Charlotte~~

Morning ladies!

I have a nasty headache this morning. I had to take some mortin for it. I hope it goes away soon.

Yesterday I went over to the track to work on my training for the race. I am having a really hard time with it. Mostly just the breathing. DH said I might just not be able to run outside. I do better on my treadmill at home. Good excuse for a home gym!!! LOL! DH kind of liked the idea though.

Not sure what I will get in today, it depends on the headache.

Shoot I have to get the boys off to school.

Have a great day ladies!!

Morning ladies,

Ugh this week is starting off cold and rainy. What a way to start a Monday! Oh well it should only last a day or so. Today is Muscle Endurance for me and a treadmill run.

Debbie-I like leaner legs as well and the time flies by. I like your substututions for hamstrings you did.

Charlotte-You ran in the rain? :)

Sabrina-I hope your headache gets better soon. I think your breathing outside will eventually get better as you train. Hang in there!

Geez can you all bekieve it is almost the first of May?! Where does the time go!!!

Hello to all that follow. I will check back.

Terri

Hello Maniacs!!

I am home all safe and sound from my trip. My niece had a beautiful wedding and all is well with the world. I'm trying to get a picture out here, but can't quite figure out how to do it. I'll have to check into that...

I got in some workouts...but not what I would have done if I were at home. I consider this a good thing and am okay with that.

This morning I did Cathe's Advanced Treadmill workout...I modified it a bit, but when I was done, I had run about 6.5 miles. I will probably do some leg and shoulder work at lunch today.

Debbie - I like Leaner Legs, but admit I haven't done that workout in quite sometime. I need to pull that one out...maybe this week.

Toasty - I have heard that running in the rain is easier because the air is cleaner when it rains...my dh told me that.

Sabrina - Sorry about your headache...hope it gets better. Don't get discouraged with your running. Yes, running outside is a little different, but you can do it. You will need to develop a breathing pattern and try to keep your breathing under control. I'll see if I can find some information to help you understand a little better. Also know that running is very mental....most of the time our bodies can handle it, but our minds generally over rule. Hang in there.

Terri - It's kinda dreary here too!! I think our weather is generally the same or it seems that way.

Well...got a lot of catching up to do so I've got to run for now. I'll be back later.

Hi to all that follow...

Good Morning Ladies!

Ah, I survived hosting Greek Easter yesterday. Thanks to my mil's guidance. The day turned out perfect. We had a beautiful day for the Easter egg hunt in our back yard. I'll try to upload some of the pictures. I finally got Disney added.

There's a lot of pictures, but I had over 600 to choose from between me and my mil!

This weekend was pretty busy getting the house ready, groceries, cooking, etc. So, I only got an hour on the treadmill and Bryan Kest Power Yoga for the whole weekend. :-( Today, I did S&H chest, back & planks. I still have some leg floor work to do and 30 minutes on the treadmill.

Debbie ~ I miss LL. You're reminding me of all the workouts I can't do right now. x(

Marietta ~ I e-mailed you about my new pt I'm trying this afternoon. I can't wait! Glad the wedding turned out so nicely.

Sabrina ~ Hope you feel better.

Hi Terri, Nicole, Susan, Diane Sue, Charlotte, Christine, and Lora!

I'll check back later!

Dallas

Marietta,

Glad to hear your back and you had a wonderful and safe trip. Missed you, Maniac! BTW, my email address has changed. I did shoot you over a few emails, but when you email me back, it will be hughes.net instead of direcway. Everything else is the same.

Dallas,

Love your pictures! Everyone looks like they had alot of fun. Thanks for sharing.

Sabrina,

Hope that headache goes away. They always make me feel fatigued too...does it do that to you?

Terri,

Don't you run in the rain? Hey, I had to do some plyo's too...over the puddles! LOL! Have fun toasting yourself with those workouts you have planned!

Charlotte~~

GREAT pictures Dallas!!! Thanks for sharing. I will have to show them to DH and check them out again myself. Your kids are soooo cute!! It looks like you all had sooo much fun too. Where did you get the autograph books and what camera do you have? It takes GREAT pictures and we need a new one. My oldest dropped ours and it doesn't work right now. I am even more excited to go now. December wont get here fast enough. LOL! Your hotel was beautiful too! I hope ours is nice too.

Marietta--Glad you are back!! I hope the trip was a lot of fun. I hope you can get the picture up for us to see. I am hanging in there so far. I have a fear of not being able to breath. It is hard to explain. I freak out if I have anything on my head. I even have a hard time taking my shirt off without holding my breath. If it gets stuck I panic. Not good. I have a hard time catching my breath while I run and I try not to panic. I even took my mini Ipod last night to try and distract myself and it didn't work much. I think a lot of it has to do with my allergies and being allergic to a lot of things outside.

Charlotte-Glad you have fun running in the rain yesterday. Playing in the rain sounds like fun (only if it was warmer here though). I do have a problem of not feeling well when I have a headache. My problem is is that I have a headache almost every day. Some days are just worse than others. I was told it was my allergies.

Thanks Charlotte and Sabrina! Sabrina, I have the Canon Digital Rebel camera. My dh gave it too me for Christmas a few years ago. I love it! It is a bigger/heavier camera especially lugging it around Disney. LOL! However, the zooming on it makes it worth while. Also, how fast it resets for the next picture is awesome. You now those kids never stay in one place too long. ha ha!

LOL!!! I know they don't Dallas. That is one of the problems I have with our digital camera, I hate waiting to be able to take the next shot. Ours doesn't zoom in that close either. I need to look into buying a new one. I think I need to sell a house first or get another job. I did go apply for one the other day but they were going to wait a week or two before hiring. I hope I can get it.

Welcome Back Marietta! Wil be anxious to see pics of the wedding.

Dallas-Your pics look great! Your family is so adorable:)

Terri

Good Morning Fitness Ladies!

I did P90X Chest and Back again today, and subbed Core Max tough premix for Ab Ripper. I was very pleasantly surprised to see that I could do many more of the push ups on my toes! And some are actually getting easier! YEAH! I'm going to go for an interval run on the treadmill this afternoon for some cardio. I'm going to add running to my rotation a few days a week.

Debbie - I love Leaner Legs. Those sit-and-stands get me every time. But, I like that it's a tough workout in a short time frame.

Charlotte - I like running in the rain too, as long as it's not windy. My absolute favorite though is trail running through the early morning fog. Everything is misty and muted. It's like running through a fairy tale.

Sabrina - hope the headache gets better. I've been dealing with them too - allergies. As long as I take something I'm fine. Try regulating your breathing. Exhale with every 3rd foot fall - and don't worry about the inhale, it will be there - worry about the exhale. Treadmill and outside running are very different, actually, so it's not unusual to have an easier time on one than the other.

Good morning Terri! How's it going?! We're cloudy and cold here, too. I'm so sick of rain!

Marietta - WELCOME BACK! Glad you enjoyed the wedding!

Dallas - great photos! Thanks for sharing! Your kids are really cute! :)

I have a question though - has anyone ever had their HRM go wacko when they are in an inverted position (push ups, yoga...)? Mine has started telling me that my HR is 227 (or so) when I'm doing push ups. Hmm, no, don't think so. I can't get above 165 on IMax 3! I replaced the batteries on it, and it was fine for a few days, then started again. I just ordered a Polar, but it's annoying to have to spend about $80 when the one I have should be fine.

I'd better go back and pretend I have a job... x(

Enjoy your days ladies!

Charlotte ~ Wow, you ran in the rain?! You and Marietta are inspiring! Of course, I'd like to run anywhere at this point. I'll even take the rain! I bet it was refreshing. I'm a fair weather runner. ha ha!

Terri ~ How did your run go? Did you take it outside?

Christine ~ I have no idea about your HRM. Sorry! Is it old? Way to go on the push ups! So, how come you're subbing CM for Ab Ripper? Is it no good?

Where's Susan and Nicole? Is Susan still on vacation? I guess I should go read the weekend threads. When does Lora get back?

I got 45 minutes on the treadmill (boring...incline walking). I did increase the speed to keep my heart rate up. :) I still plan on doing GSL floorwork. I may not be able to do any leg work after I see the PT later today! ;-) So, I better get moving.

Dallas

Dallas, Idecided to do cardio kicks instead. I wasn't feeling a treadmill run :) Later is Musclemax. How is your foot doing? I know what ya mean about the treadmill being boring sometimes!

Terri

Dallas - no I like Ab Ripper X, but I don't want to do it 3 times a week, like the program says to - I like more variety in my ab work, so I sub Core Max 1 or 2 times a week. That's it...

Terri, I bet that was fun - Cardio Kicks! I'm just in a rut with my cardio since it's either treadmill (walking) or the elliptical (if I go to the gym). I'm trying a new PT today. I hear she's really good! We'll see if she can work some magic on this ankle! ;-) What happened with Dave's interview?

Dallas

ETA: Christine, I love CM. Do you think I should get Ab Ripper to alternate or change things up a bit? I still get DOMS from CM sometimes!

Yeah ab ripper does sound cool!

Dallas, He was to have a second interview today and I have noy heard yet. Thanks for thinking of him.

Christine so all in all how do you like p90x so far?
Sabrina, how is the headache?
Debbie-Have you ever done any p90x?

Terri

ETA Dallas good luck with the new PT. I hope this one fixes you quick :)
