Morning Fit Ladies - Happy Memorial Day -

This morning I did Gunnar Peterson's Core Secrets Head to Toe in 30 minutes and Strength Interval workouts back to back (1 hour) plus 10 minutes of Quick Fix Pilates Abs with Kelly Roberts and I finished off with 90 minutes of Mark Blanchard's Progressive Power Yoga from the Trilogy Series, Volume 1.

That was a pretty tough workout. I used 8-12 lb weights for the Gunnar DVDs and the first DVD had jump rope intervals. It was fun. I did slightly more reps than they did with the weights, as I started while he was explaining a move and I jumped rope longer to make it harder. I used a med ball for the ab segments.

The Power Yoga DVD was very difficult and advanced. I had to modify. I could not do the headstands, shoulder stands, handstands and elbow stands, as well as arm balances splits. This 90 min DVD, again, had a lot of balancing moves in it and really worked your legs.

I think my body was still sore from that Source Power workout the other day and today's functional fitness/yoga is probably going to leave me pretty sore again. I don't know if this is much of a recovery week.

I'm on a mission to whittle my core...so I'll be adding quite a bit of Pilates into my routine. I've got to find my Pilates Reformer tapes so I can start using my Reformer again in the evenings.

Debbie - Thanks for the Low Max Extended workout. It looks tough.

Diana Sue - Do you think I should start my Cathe rotation with 2 weeks of the Fatloss or 2 weeks of the split strength one?

Have great workouts everyone or rest days and Happy Memorial Day.

We saw The Last Stand (X-Men) movie yesterday and it was pretty good.

I'm off to soak my sore shoulders. I think I did too many pushups on the floor and one armed down dogs. I go for another set of Trigger Point injections on Wednesday.

Good Morning Maniacs!!!

Yesterday I did Imax 2 and today I will do a new one I haven't done yet of Cathe's...kickbox, working biceps. Very hot already again this morning and brother is coming down from Maryland with those crabs so I suggested he put them in ice as the drive will be 2 1/2 hours. Don't want any maggoty crabs to eat...EW!

Happy Memorial Day lovely Hard Core Babes!

Today is a long run, then back to P90X Chest, Shoulder and Triceps, and abs. Should be fun.

What does everyone have planned for today? We're just grilled hamburgers and hotdogs (veggie burger for me), with pasta and fruit salad.

This morning I did Pure Strength Back and Bi's and added some stuff of my own. First when I started back I did 4 pull-ups, waited a minute, did 3 pull-ups, waited another minute and did 3 more! Those are getting quite easy for me. Those T-bar rows are weird, I never feel them much. I used 40 lbs. for those and if my low back wasn't killing me today I could have gone to 50 lbs. I'm sure. Where Cathe did 2 sets I did 3 and I added 3 sets of pull-overs and did those with 25 lbs.

Bicep work, I did the curls with 40 lbs. for 2 sets and dropped to 35 for the 3rd. I added a 2nd set to the seated Hammer Curls and seated Sweep Curls using 15's for the first set and 12's for the 2nd. After the negative curls, I did Reverse Curls. Anyone ever do these? Charlotte, you probably have. I used to do them a lot way back when. You hold the bar with your palms facing down, knuckles up and lift the barbell up towards your chest. It works mostly forearms. I used 25 lbs. for this and did 3 sets.

Then I did the abs in this workout. I had a great workout, my body feels really worked.

Hope you all have a great Memorial Day!

Debbie,

Believe it or not, I haven't worked my triceps like that yet (reverse curls). I decided to do parts of different Cathe Express videos...kickbox for biceps, another for shoulders and then triceps. I really like the shoulder workout the best...it worked my shoulders good and they ached like heck! }( I didn't care for the kickbox bicep workout too much. I tried the tricep workout and had a hard time with the pushups with hands close together to work tricep. I did 2 at first and then kept working myself up to at least 10. I need to concentrate more and really focus to do these...they ain't easy! LOL!

I weeded out my flower bed while thinking about work. It has been going o.k only I have been giving a few of the workers the wrong impression that I am a pushover cuz I am too nice so tomorrow when I go into work, that will all change.}( Like I said before, I refuse to be a doormat. You know when you first start a job you have never done before, it can be intimidating, doesn't mean your timid though. Why do some think they have you figured out when they don't? Some of these girls have been there for 10 years, etc. Time to let down my hair I guess and "strike a pose"! ;)

Good morning (for another 5 minutes anyway):

Hope everyone is enjoying their Memorial Day weekend. Yesterday I did an easy bike ride with 5 other ladies who I've never ridden with before. Their pace was definitely easy (but I knew that before I joined them) and it was nice to socialize, talk about areas to ride, etc. I also helped one of them change a flat tire. She'd never done one before so guess it was a good thing I was there. I also got to give them some road safety tips.

My Yoga Shakti DVD came Saturday so I got to do the Basic workout this morning. I love Shiva's voice, the music, scenery and will definitely be able to grow into this one. After my workout, which really wasn't that challenging for me, I experimented with programming the Matrix and picked out some different sequences/poses and then reviewed. It worked! I'm really excited about this and it will be just the ticket. I'll do the other premixes soon but will be creating my own workouts too. I like the idea of the matrix. Tonite will be a Bowflex workout with DH. Hopefully, he and I will be able to take the dogs out to the desert this afternoon and do a little walking. Oh yeah, DH went back this morning and retrieved our camp trailer. Just slid a little bit pulling it out.

I've got to buy some plants for some pots out front, already fertilized the lawn, just watering now.

Lora, I like the X-men movies, haven't seen the new one yet. Is this your rest week? Hopefully, you can give your body a break from hurting/hard efforts this week so you'll be ready to go for it on your next rotation. Go easy, okay? Not those trigger injections again?

Charlotte, hope there are no maggots on the crabs! Those would be nasty!!! Enjoy your family visit. You go girl, on letting those ladies know at work that you are not a pushover in any way, shape or form! I know you can do it in a good way. Usually, I wait too long and them I'm angry and don't get the point across the way I want.

Christine, glad you are back. Hope your run was good. What kind of results are you getting with P90X?

Great workout, Debbie. Nice to feel thoroughly worked out. I'm going for that feeling tonite when DH and I work out. I need to do the reverse curls for my forearms. I haven't done those since S&H.

Must go now,

Jeanette

Good afternoon,
Yesterday I did not check in. It was a rest day. I went to church and did grocery shopping. The stores were surprisingly not to busy. Today we are going to friends for a barbecue. I am sure I will eat some things I would not normally eat. Like buns on the hamburgers. Now when my family had the birthday party on Saturday I ate 2 hamburger patties with the veggies, made a salad of the garnishes and added a little dip. I can't do that there. Anyway, today I did iFIT World Beat Level 3 Treadmill workout, no c/d then Bowflex and free weights VKR tower, chest and abs,ab ripper X, then Yoga Shatki Core and shoulder openers.(I did not do the headstands) The core went much better this time. I bought the second yoga block which helped. The shoulder openers were new to me, as I have not done this segment yet. My grandson called about 30 minutes into my workout, so I had to stop and talk. He wanted to tell me all about Fla. and Disney World etc.. It was his 6th Birthday today. He is the youngest grandchild. He will be home this week and I have missed him alot.

Lora, I would think the Fat Loss rotation would be good for you. Be careful of those shoulders and if you can get in a little more core that would be good. If you decide to use weeks 3/4 of that rotation I would do the one with the KickMax lower drills & the Hi Low one. The one with two MM looks good. Actually I am looking at weeks 3/4 for myself next week except, darn, I would have to add in some TJ as I love those. I have to take the grandchildren to VBS all week so am going to have to get up early or be shorter on time.

Hi Christine, I kind of miss the P90X dvd's. I think I need to figure how to incorporate them into a rotation. There are some new moves in there that I miss doing since I am back to Cathe and my Bowflex.

Charlotte, which Kickbox are you doing. I have spent a lot of time in my flower beds lately weeding, spraying and planting. It has been very warm here so everything is getting the heat and it is not even into summer yet.

Debbie, I have done the reverse curls for Biceps with the Bowflex. It is amazing how a little change of position can hit other muscles so well.

Hi to everyone,

I wonder why Cathe doesn't do reverse curls in any of her workout? I'm hoping to get a weight bench tomorrow. A guy that works with me told me a few months ago he had one he'd give to me. It has the attachment for leg and hamstring curls. I really want it and hope he still has it. I'll find out tomorrow. I didn't take it when he first asked me because I didn't think I'd use it. But I'm so ready to workout on my own sometimes instead of following Cathe's workout. I cleaned out one side of our bedroom to put it in. Now I'm crossing my fingers that he still has it.

Hi Ladies -

I've just been doing a whole lot of nothing today. My right sided sciatica is flaring up. I guess I'll have to pick another workout for tomorrow. I had Bosu Blast on the agenda, but I think it will be too hard on my sciatica. I DON'T want to go back to work tomorrow. I feel so guilty for eating chocolate cake yesterday at my niece's 21st birthday party. I love that stuff, but feel so guilty afterwards. It's TTOTM so I'm really feeling like a blimp. I saw my sister yesterday who I haven't seen for about 4-5 years (don't ask.....families!! Geez). Anyway, she said "you look so different" over and over and the she said you're so tall and so thin. I guess I should feel good about that since I'm feeling so blimp like. Maybe she just needs new glasses.

I've been debating buying some Winsor Pilates DVDs. I'm on a mission. I bought a Reformer set from Amazon since I can't find my original tapes that I bought when I first got my reformer. It was a set of 5 DVDs for $20. There were good reviews on them. I also bought the Winsor PIlates Sculpting Circle Kit "as seen on TV" for $9.95. I got the circle (which I already have) and 3 DVDs. I thought the price was good.

I should probably go get my reformer out now and do something, but I don't remember the routine.....I'm getting old. I guess I could play around on it...but I'm feeling lazy.

Diana Sue - I think I willk start with the FatLoss one. Maybe I need to do a full month though and then I'll move on from there. I also think I'll add in some other cardio for variety. I love Turbo Jam also.

Netta - Glad you like Yoga Shakti. The scenery is gorgeous and breathtaking. I love Shiva.

Have a great evening everyone.

Netta - I'm really gaining strength with P90X, and I'm definitely seeing definition. I've also started running, so I count that more for my weight loss than P90X. It's a great series if you want to build muscle. It's tough - mainly pushups and pull ups (I use bands for the pull ups), but I enjoy it.

Diane Sue - Carole has been doing a modified P90X combined with Cathe and others. I think Kathryn has been doing that as well - you might want to talk to them to see what they're doing. I know when I'm done with this, I plan to do 3 weeks of Slow and Heavy, followed by a recovery week followed by 3 weeks of P90X ... and alternate Cathe and Tony. I think that will really keep in me toned. As you said, there are exercises in each that are unique.

I ran 6.8 miles, did Ab ripper X and Chest, Shoulders and Triceps. Then I stood in line for an hour to get my DD and my season passes to Great America (a local theme park). We then rode one roller coaster - haven't done that in about 5 years! - and went grocery shopping. Now we're getting ready for a BBQ. I'm sore from head to toe and loving it. :)

Didn't get out to the desert with the dogs and DH, but did get the plants in pots. DH had to finish welding on a wood splitter so the desert plan got waylaid.

Just got done with an upper body Bowflex workout for DH and myself. He's been losing about a pound a week, but his gut is getting much smaller. His goal is to be 155, right now he's at 163. I'm so proud of him! Amazing what he could do if he gave up drinking beer...

Good night, back to work tomorrow, 4 days off has been wonderful!

Jeanette :)
