Hardcore Check in October 24,2009 Saturday

I thought I would get us started. Just in case anyone wants to check in on the weekend. I am getting read to go do Jari's Extremely Ripped 1000. I slept in late this morning. My dog woke me wondering why she wasn't getting fed and out her usual time this morning. 8:30 is really late for me. Still coughing like crazy too. It is so annoying. I was going to make The Clean Eating Cookbook Orange Almond cake that has ground almonds and no flour and discovered I only have 1 orange. Was hoping to cook them for while working out so they could cool. Now I have to get to the store again.

Diane Sue-I hope you feel better soon....let me know how that recipe was.

No workout to report for me except cleaning the entire house, grocery shopping, and preparing for a party we are throwing this evening. I may try to get a good yoga tape or stretch in as my rt shoulder/scapula area is very tight and starting to affect my mobility in the joint. My back is not sore today, thank goodness, so I think it was DOMS and not improper form.

Hope everyone has a great weekend. I will probably not be back until Monday.

Theresa

I finished my workout. I starte with Cardio X w/up and the first 10 minutes yoga segment(I like a longer w/up

and Jari uses weights for her w/up)I burned 83 calories on the this w/up.
Then I did Extremely Ripped 1000 burning 751 calories. Total calories burned was 834, 162 Max HR , in high zone 35 minutes 35% fat.
I need to go get showered. The new electric car business is having some function in town showing off the cars and other businesses will be there too.

Theresa, I sometimes like to do just the joint mobility from AOS Empire State and repeat the segments when my joints are bothering me. I think it is good for that. I am glad your back is not sore today:D

Thanks for the tip Diane Sue, I have been interested in that DVD. Is it different from the other AOS videos? Does the joint mobility segment use a kettlebell?

Have fun at the show and nice workout.

Theresa, that workout has two dvds. One is the empire state kettlebell workout and the other is joint mobility and the Manmaker. Joint Mobility is only around 11 minutes but Anthony says to do each segment so many times your age. I would be doing that joint mobility all day LOL But it is really good. He uses a kettlebell only in one segment and I only use 15# as it is kind of a deadlift into a low squat holding the base of a kettlebell. Manmaker is short as in 8 minutes for manmaker 1x and I burn a lot of calories. Then you can go to two times and then three times. By the time we got to the show everyone had left. We went to chicken and chops to eat and see if it had moved inside. Ended up splitting a pizza. Me veggie dh pepperoni. Left a couple of pieces. They just do not have much that is not fried. Even the salad bar is loaded with eggs, ham, cheese, full fat dressing and a lot of junk but there is that option. All of the entrees are fried except the recent addition of pizza. We have only been there 3 times now. I am thinking I can make a half recipe of that orange almond cake and use a smaller pan because I really am not wanting to drive 8 miles to get an orange. I will let you know how it turns out.

Hi, Diane Sue and Theresa!

Okay, I decided to try something different today, so I tried Zumba. It was fun, but only 342 minutes so I added 2 segments from 10 Minute Solutions Hip Hop something. The Zumba dvd was way better than the 10 minutes solution, as the 10 MS broke thing down way too much so it was hard to get your HR up. This is good for learning the moves but would really be a damper when you know it. Workout was 54 minutes and I burned 423 calories.

Linda, I have heard a lot of people that enjoy Zumba. On the 10 minute solution, I know that they try to figure in a short w/up and cool down which really does take away from the workout. I cannot imagine learning moves too. I usually sort of ignore the w/up unless I am using it with a w/up and just do some stuff to keep the HR up if I have already been working out. Still not too bad of a calorie burn for that length of time.

Theresa, I made the almond orange cake and I am not really sure about it. You would need the fruit compote as it is not very sweet at all. I tasted the batter and thought this is going to be a me forcing myself to eat it thing . I added a little raw sugar to it. I think grinding up orange peel was not that good. I guess since you grind it up with the orange if it is not the right flavor it will alter the results. I made a fat free cream cheese frosting with splenda and no fruit because I knew dh would not eat the fruit compote. I only made half a recipe. It is not a recipe I would remake.
