HARD CORE FITNESS MANIACS FOR JULY 10

Debbie, I noticed you did Kickbox Surge. I have it but have not done it yet. I am thinking tomorrow that will be my w/out. It sounds like it was fun.

Morning! I did KPC this morning- was going to substitute something else and just woke up ready to do it. It was fun- I can only do that one every now and again or else I get really sick of it. I love the ab work- need to do it more often since I think I'm not as good as the pikes as I used to be. Le sigh, it's always something.

Have a great day everyone!

Morning Maniacs -

This morning was supposed to be a weight day, but since I did 2 weight/cardio circuits in a row, I figured, I should probably do something different today. I did Intensati - Great Body, Great Mind with Patricia Moreno. Workout was 65" and I burned 590 calories (big surprise for me). I was shocked at how high my HR got during the upper body cardio segment...went up to 160 with my feet firmly planted on the ground and zero impact.

This workout basically has an upper body cardio segment, lower body cardio segment and a yoga segment. You repeat positive affirmations throughout the workout. You say things like "I am strong now" "I will succeed". "The power in me bows to the power in you" and a few other sayings. It's not for everyone....but I figured I needed it since I've been so discouraged in my life with everything and with work being so slow due to the economy.

I once emailed Patricia Moreno to ask her how she trained (cuz I think her physique is awesome - her upper body is soooo cut!). She responded that she mainly kickboxes, does yoga and the high rep workouts like the Intensati workouts.

Have great workouts everyone.

Theresa - now I'm curious. What do you do for a living? I was a medical secretary for 27 years plus....but I kept losing my job due to downsizing, etc. I had an MRI back around 2000 when I worked for the Neurosurgeon. He's the one that found the 3 disc bulges in my neck. I have one at C6-7 that is the largest of the three and although not impinging on the spinal cord, it is abutting it it and causing a lot of my neck/shoulder problems. I also have facet joint problems due to a spur and degeneration. I do not want another MRI. I won't have surgery no matter what they find. I was told a long time ago that I'd probably need surgery when I was older.....but again, the neurosurgeon I used to work for was pretty conservative and always told peeps to stay away from having their spine surgically altered until it was the absolute last resort. I also have sciatica.....and I don't want to know what I have going on in my lower back. I will simply exercise, stretch, do yoga, and try to treat my symptoms with my foam roller and Elaine Petrone balls like I have for the last 10 Plus years. I have been for PT several times over the years and had trigger point injections, electric muscle stim, massage, etc. and it always helps temporarily. Sorry to babble.

My workout is done. I have to run a couple of errands and call Direct tv back out for the 3rd time

Workout this morning was Amy's Step Challenge 3 with the power ups and abs#1. I burned 754 calories. I then did 10 minute solutions rapid results pilates I got from the library. My granddaughter did this one with me. We did the abs and the stretch. Total calories burned today was 817. Bill Jr put my light up in the workout room and took down the ceiling fan so I had more jumping space this morning

Yesterday I ended up with the Muscle Chow taco salad for dinner and I just had some of the Muscle chow peanut butter muscle bombs for lunch. I had a lot of running to do.

Today was total body and I chose the Total Body workout from Low Impact Circuit. Had a really good workout and was sweating big time with this one. Cathe goes from one exercise to another and she is truly a genious at how she puts these workouts together. Had fun with it. Also did the ab work but I'm telling you, my abs have gotten very weak. I can't hold a plank anymore to save my life. I really need to start working on that again.

And wow, I think it might hit 80 today!

Roselyn - Do it! It is so fun! I can't wait to do it again!

Lora - Interesting about Patricia Moreno. I'm doing this type of rotation right now.

Diane Sue - I heard Direct TV was impossible to work with. Their customer service sucks. Hope you get that taken care of!

Hi to all that comes!

Have a great day everyone!

Nice workouts ladies, I did not do squat today. I had a terrible day at work as I seem to work with the most immature bunch of men ever.....I will get back on the workout wagon tomorrow. Plus, it is so freakin' hot here it is like breathing underwater. I think I will do plyo legs tomorrow because I missed it today and I kind of get a cardio/lowerbody workout.

Lora-I do PET-Ct/MRI/Xray (I'm registered in PET, Nuclear Medicine, and X-ray). Currently (for one more week anway), I work for a spine hospital and the majority of what I see is neck and back problems. I can totally understand not wanting to have surgery-especially lower back-because it seems that most people always return. However, there are a few surgeons here in Tulsa, Ok that are brilliant. They have great sterile technique, do not operate on smokers (I can smell them 5,000 miles away-probably because I quit in February and it's still the only thing I can smell), and don't give in to the chronic opiate users (which unfortunately we get a lot of). I hope you can find some non-surgical options to relieve your pain. Does yoga help or hurt? I am curious about the foam rollers as well. Sorry to babble as well.

I hope everyone has a great evening and I'm sorry I didn't get to post anything until now. I also did pretty bad on my meals today. Breakfast and snack one were alright, but I barely got lunch, no afternoon snack, and I had mexican for dinner :( However, I did order a side of steamed veggies at the mexican restaurant which went very well with the queso. I will get back on track I swear. I think it will be a lot better when I do not have the stress of working with such jerks. They literally sucked the life out of me today. Thanks for letting me vent. :)

p.s. Diane Sue-what is muscle chow? Is it the book from Men's Health? I am always looking for great recipes to try and help me stay on track.

I'll be lucky if I can walk tomorrow!:p:confused::p:confused:

Anyway, I drove 20 minutes to meet & train my client, from there drove 50 minutes, to the beach to meet my family, then drove kids from the beach 30 minutes to go to a friends birthday party, then 30 minutes back to clients house for a graduation party, now I am finally back home. So I will check in tomorrow and let you know Disc 3- Legs went, IF I can walk as far as the computer that is!;)

Meals today were:
Breakfast(post workout)-Muscle Chow Peanut butter muscle bombs
Lunch was a Chick Filet grilled chicken wrap with mustard and iced tea
(took the grandchildren there on the wrong day. Loads of people. One woman and her children were all decked out in their cow costumes for free food. One guy used the stand up they had with a face cut out as a costume and got free food :0
Dinner was some grilled sirloin and a small helping of beans.

Teresa, you are right. Muscle chow is the Men's Health book. It is informative and has good recipes in it. Most are pretty simple to fix. Some recipes are nothing more than items like chicken with some seasoning grilled or boiled eggs. But there are others that are really good. I use it quite a bit though and there are some that I really do like and use a lot.

Linda, you sound like me with all of the running around. I did that yesterday. Felt like I drove the same circle 3 times.
