Cathlete
Have any other Cathletes had this done? I thought it was an interesting experience... No eating or drinking two hours before hand...you have to wear spandex workout gear or swimwear to make sure there is no air in your clothing; they also have you wear a fabric swimcap to compress your hair. Then you sit in this space capsule-looking egg and are supposed to sit still and breathe normally. At 5'3" my legs didn't reach the floor of the 'capsule' when I was sitting back, so I tried not to let them jitter too much as my feet were kind of on tip-toe. I'm not claustrophobic so it was alright, but you do feel the air pressure around you, especially the first time the technician closes the door..but it's not too uncomfortable. She left it closed for 60 seconds..then opens it and did it 2 more times. She said sometimes they only close it twice based on what the computer says.
Got my results which I consider my "Before"...34% body fat, which is considered 'high body fat'. I'm 5'3", currently 142...and until 2 weeks ago had done ZERO exercise for over 1 year and slowly gained 10 lbs, probably over the course of 2 years. The results say that my fat-free mass (bones, organs, and muscles) is 95 lbs... I am just starting week 3 of STS so I'll be just as interested to see how this goes up the next time I get measured as to see my fat levels go down.
My Tanita scale has given me a body fat percentages from 31.9-32.9% over the past two weeks, to give you a comparison, which is pretty close to my BodPod result..but I'll be curious if it remains somewhat accurate as I continue to get in shape.
