Had my body fat measured with BodPod yesterday..

Cathlete
Have any other Cathletes had this done? I thought it was an interesting experience... No eating or drinking two hours before hand...you have to wear spandex workout gear or swimwear to make sure there is no air in your clothing; they also have you wear a fabric swimcap to compress your hair. Then you sit in this space capsule-looking egg and are supposed to sit still and breathe normally. At 5'3" my legs didn't reach the floor of the 'capsule' when I was sitting back, so I tried not to let them jitter too much as my feet were kind of on tip-toe. I'm not claustrophobic so it was alright, but you do feel the air pressure around you, especially the first time the technician closes the door..but it's not too uncomfortable. She left it closed for 60 seconds..then opens it and did it 2 more times. She said sometimes they only close it twice based on what the computer says.

Got my results which I consider my "Before"...34% body fat, which is considered 'high body fat'. I'm 5'3", currently 142...and until 2 weeks ago had done ZERO exercise for over 1 year and slowly gained 10 lbs, probably over the course of 2 years. The results say that my fat-free mass (bones, organs, and muscles) is 95 lbs... I am just starting week 3 of STS so I'll be just as interested to see how this goes up the next time I get measured as to see my fat levels go down. :)

My Tanita scale has given me a body fat percentages from 31.9-32.9% over the past two weeks, to give you a comparison, which is pretty close to my BodPod result..but I'll be curious if it remains somewhat accurate as I continue to get in shape.

I would love to do that be would be terrified of the results. I need to get my ass in gear (yet again!) Actually, I seem to be able to get it gear, just not to keep it there!!

Where did you do it? How much was it? this would be very cool to do!!
Elena

I went to a place called the "California Health & Longevity Institute" which is a really over-the-top upscale medical facility and spa near Thousand Oaks, CA...the kind of place that makes you go 'are they for real about this?'..lol..but the BodPod measurement wasn't too expensive, at $65. Thinking I won't have another measurement until I get very close to my goal...even though I really want to go after I finish doing the 3.5 month STS rotation. :) If you do a search..alot of the places that have the BodPod are University Kinesiology departments that do allow people to come and have their body fat % measured. For me, it was a long drive to this med-spa place but I figured since they offer it as a service, it would be less awkward than calling up a University.

I hear you on this...! Oh well, maybe this time, right? ;)

I would love to get this done but the last time I looked, it wasn't offered anywhere near me. BUMMER!

I suppose I need to keep checking...hopefully it will be offered somewhere near by soon....fngers crossed!

Google Bod Pod and your city

There was none near me according to the Bod Pod site, but when I googled Bod Pod & my city, I found a nearby university that has one. It's $25.00 for regular schlubs off the street like me.

I had it done

I was really curious after reading about the Bodpod and had it done about a year or so ago. I thought it was great! It cost me around $100 I think, I found a gym relatively close to me to have it done at. I was very pleased with my results, if it didn't cost as much I'd have it done more regularly!
