Group Instructor Exam

Hi everyone-
Just wondering if anyone here has taken the Personal Training/Group Instructor Exam from ACE? I've taken the PT exam and am signed up to take the GI exam *gasp* next month. I've ordered the manual but it doesn't look like it will be here anytime soon. So, I'm wondering if I can just study my PT manual and still pass the exam. Any thoughts would be GREATLY appreciated.

Hi, Carolyn - I took the ACE GFI exam a long time ago (February 1997) back when it was called the Aerobics Instructor exam. Although I've never gone for the Personal Trainer exam, I do have the second edition of the textbook and its study materials.

IMHO (and I wish I could say otherwise) the personal training text will not be a substitute for the GFI materials. There's so much specific stuff to group fitness, from choreography design, class modes and structures, even legal issues like copyrights for music used, that you'll be missing a lot without the materials. As I remember, the first four chapters of the GFI and Personal Trainer texts were the same, and after that - lots different.
