green tea

I just drank a cup of hot green tea. For those who are very health conscious, how much should you be drinking to get the benefits and is it ok to add a little splenda?

Kim

I enjoy a cup or two a day....but I really like tea. I might also mix it up with white or red (rooibos) tea when I am not drinking black tea.
I think a bit of splenda in moderation is just fine. Others will disagree but you have to do what is comfortable for you and if splenda makes it more likely that you will enjoy the tea I say go for it. Personally, I use "Sugar in the Raw", agave nectar, or a bit of fructose (whicH I buy from my "green" grocer).

I also like tea--especially black or rooibos. And I also prefer Sugar in the Raw. I really don't care much for splenda and since I use maybe 1/2 a teaspoon I don't worry about it much. Like a friend said "Life isn't worth living without tea!" Enjoy green tea also but haven't been drinking it much lately.

Kim, when I first started drinking green tea (iced, from Starbucks), it tasted bitter, but after a while I actually started to crave that bitter taste, and became "addicted" to my Starbuck's green tea every day. I have nothing against using a bit of Splenda, and I fully agree with Beavs, but have you tried it without? Sometimes it's just a question of what you get used to. Like great coffee, I think green tea has it's own unique flavor, that is best enjoyed completely unadulterated.

When I drink tea, be it green, black or any other color I always use splenda. When I drink my daily 8 gallons of coffee a day ;) I use splenda. I never feel badly for it. I do my best eat as clean and healthy as possible most of the time but there are some things I am just not giving up and that's one of them.

Enjoy your green tea with splenda w/a guilt free conscience, Kim. You deserve it. :)

So a cup daily would achieve the health benefits? Thanks for all the responses. I'm not really a tea drinker of any kind. I've just heard so much about green tea so I thought I would try it.

Kim

You would like benefit from a cup a day. Experiment and see if there us something you like so that you might become a true tea drinker.
