Great Green Tea

Hi Ladies,

Just a couple of green tea suggestions I have tried lately myself.

- green tea with a bit of cardamom and a few dates on the side makes a great afternoon pick me up.

- I recently bought a fantastic green tea from Republic of Tea, green tea and toasted rice. It actually has rice in with the loose tea leaves. The rice gives the tea a deep, earthy, grainy flavor that I like for the morning.

Okay dokey. Over and out.

My absolute favorite green tea (TZao?) has a bit of spearmint and lemongrass in. A very nice touch.

The cardamon sounds interesting. I knew a Greek woman who would make her own after-dinner drink with cardamon, fennel and some other spices, and boil it up like tea. Good for digestion and good tasting.

I use the Republic of Tea bags. The one I've been drinking lately is green tea and apple that I sweeten with a little French lavender honey. It's absolutely yummy!

Speaking of figs, I found a new treat at the grocery store the other day--dried figs, each stuffed with a whole almond and covered in dark chocolate. They are simply delicious! They're imported from Italy and I had never seen them before, but they will be a staple of my treat allowance from now on!:p :9

Kathryn ~ Tazo "Zen" Green tea is my favorite, too. I don't add anything to it at all. I go nuts when my grocery store runs out so I've taken to picking up 2-3 boxes at a time so now I always have some at the office and home. I even carry a couple of tea bags in my purse for when I'm out. I really like that tea!

I am a green tea fanatic! Love all of the Tazo brands. I just tried Salada "Earl Green". It was an interesting change!

My favorite green tea is toasted green tea (Sencha). Sometimes we splurge and import it from Japan. I love the green tea with toasted rice, but haven't had it since I lived in Japan!

Jocelyn, yes that's the one. :)

I wonder if some macrobiotic suppliers might carry it? I know they carry a lot of different kinds of green teas.

Thanks for the tip, Kathyrn! I'll have to give it a try. I did find Sencha once locally at an Asian Food Supermarket. However, it was a Chinese tea, not Japanese, and did not taste the same to me. I also found it at Southern Season when I visited my sister and could probably have them ship it to me. I live in a relatively small town and don't have too many options locally.
