Grams of protein a day?

I have been trying to figure out how many grams of protein I need a day and I get different answers everywhere I look! I don't need to lose any weight and I'm trying to add some muscle mass. Thanks for any information.

I have been told that for building muscle you need to have 1 gram of protein for every pound. So, if you weigh 100 pounds, you need 100 grams of protein per day. HTH

There are different recommendations, depending on what you read.
I've seen .8 grams per pound of body weight, 1 gram per kilo of body weight, and 1 gm. per pound of lean body mass (that would be your weight minus fat poundage).

Another way of figuring it out is to go for 12-20% of calories from protein, eating enough calories to maintain your body weight.
