Good shoes on carpet?

Hi everyone,

I need to replace my workout shoes, and have spent several hours reading all the posts on the forum about which shoes people recommend -- and I think I've been driving myself crazy! I was thinking about trying Rykas for the first time since so many people here seem to like them, but, when I got on-line and tried to purchase some, noticed that many of the styles people have mentioned here on the forum are discontinued.

Then I thought about purchasing the N-Gage XT cross-trainers, but some of the reviews on Zappos mentioned that they aren't as good for step or regular aerobics -- so now I'm more confused than ever!

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good shoe that works well on carpet? I've been doing Cathe's workouts exclusively for a few months, and do her step, kickboxing, interval, circuit, and weight workouts. Would it be better to purchase two different kinds of shoes?

I've always used cross trainers for my workouts, but was reading that a studio shoe might be better. Any ideas??

Thanks in advance!!!

Leanne,

I don't think I've ever owned a studio shoe. I just use my Asics Gel 130-TR for lifting, kickboxing, and step (the latter of which I do rarely).

But here's a http://mylalclass.com/sign0179.gif , so maybe someone in-the-know can help you out.

Leanne, I have the Ryka N-GageXT and love them. I think working on carpet, it's a given that some moves are just difficult if not dangerous, no matter what shoe you use. I also have the Ryka N-Gage Studio and do not like those. They are sort of high topped and rub my ankle.

And of course with Zappos you have free shipping both ways so order something try it out for a quick feel and send it back if you don't like them.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the suggestions! I ended up ordering a pair of Ryka NGage Studio shoes from WalkingSue on Ebay. I'm hoping that they work well on my carpeted floor -- I'll let you know if they do when they arrive!

Hi, Leanne. I'm a cardio kickboxing and Zumba instructor that teaches in a Group X room with carpet. I swear by Nike fitness dance shoes like the Ballo or MC. They have a pivot point in the ball of each foot and have saved my knees. Many of the participants in the classes swear by them too. Nike does have other fitness dance shoes that don't have the Shox system like the Ballo and MC. Although they have the pivot point, they aren't built for a lot of impact. I wouldn't recommend those if you will be jumping around in them. If you are doing Cathe dvds, I KNOW you'll be jumping.

I've seen the shoes regularly on Ebay.

Hi Deena,

Thanks so much for the great recommendation!! I'll definitely look into these Nike shoes since they sound like they would be perfect for working out in my carpeted space.

Thanks for taking the time to help out!
