Giving up coffee or switching to tea

Winter

Cathlete
Hi Everyone,

Has anyone given up caffine or switched from coffee to tea. I usually have 4 cups in the morning and I have been super tired lately and no energy. I can fall asleep around 4:00 pm or so for 20 minutes and am still so tired until I go to bed. I am wondering if the caffine is messing with my blood sugar levels.

I am wondering what positives you have experienced when giving up caffine.

I really like a hot beverage in the morning so I am thinking of going to tea.

Plus I have acid reflux from coffee I think.

Thanks in advance,
Winter

Never, NEVER will I give up my coffee - yes, the high octane version! I only have 2 cups each morning and no other caffiene for the rest of the day. I don't use sugar or creamer and only put a cinnamon stick in it! So, I'm afraid I am no real help to you! It might be that (if you're like me and refuse to give it up), you could mix caf and decaf half and half to reduce the amount of caffiene you're getting and see what happens.

Just a suggestion. I would at least try that before giving it up completely.

I did this a couple of years ago and when I was pregnant. I too drink three to four cups of coffee each morning. I'm thinking about switching back to tea. I think caffeine is a wonderful thing, though, so I'm not giving that up. Still will have my afternoon diet coke. But coffee in the summertime is a little icky to me. My favorite breakfast tea is Bigalow orange spice tea. I add a little Truvia to it to sweeten it. It's yummy! I also like Chloe orange spice tea.

Good luck in your switch-over!! But be forewarned, you will probably go through morning caffeine withdrawals at first. I did, but it only lasted a week or so.
:)

ETA: I tried doing the half caff thing once, but I wound up just drinking twice as much coffee, so it really was counter productive.

I'm a tea convert. LOVE coffee, but a few years ago caught a stomach bug. Did not get sick on coffee, but when I recovered I found coffee just didn't taste the same. Actually for about a year afterward I had to spit it out everytime I tried to drink it. Switched to green tea and have just recently discovered white tea -- LOVE my teas. I CAN now drink coffee and every now and again I will treat myself to a cup which I enjoy thoroughly. But don't ask me to give up my tea - and I NEVER thought I would say that.

Tea makes me hurl . .weird I know. I gave up coffee for a month and then had a late night and got sucked back in.

Good Luck - get lots of motrin for the headaches the first week.
