Gin Miller's Ramping

cathe4me2

Cathlete
I was just web surfing and found www.ramping.com. Gin Miller has a new concept of working the hamstrings, thighs and glutes by concentrating on the backward movement using an adjustable ramp.
Looks interesting. Have any of you tried it yet or have seen it at a trade show?
The ramp comes with a video as far as I can tell from the site's store.

I just came back from visiting VF. There are some girls from Video Fitness that actually HAVE this ramp and are using it. My understanding is, Gin is going to possibly have 9 videos by 2004 ? The video that comes with the ramp now is more an instructional one. It also comes with audio cassette and instructions for instructors. The company is aiming at clubs for the moment but are taking orders for individuals, making them as the orders come in. Right now you save by buying 4.
They may have special deals for consumers as it gets underway...???

If you go over to VF you might check out that thread. I'm thinking this is going to be another toy to add to the step box. They are saying that the step works more of your quads while the ramp works your hamstrings. ?? While visiting the ramp website, the ramp looks pretty cool. It has adjustable heights with little legs.
Interesting!;-)

Wanda, STOP already! I don't have any MORE room! (Or $'s!!) Just to let you know, Francine just went to a workshop for ramping. I'm not sure if she is getting a cert in it or just attended the workshop? I'm sure she could answer some questions for you when she finds a sec. Not sure how she finds time to BREATHE these days!

Gin Miller's Ramping--my opinion

Hi Wanda,
I just did the certification and workshop for ramping 123! I did it because I'll be subbing at one of the gyms(when needed)

Personally, I was not too crazy about it! (I know people who loved it and some who said hmm I can jack it up and change the music to make it work cause the music was Brutal! 123 was just not" my" speed! It's a lower intensity workout w/ friendly patterns that are slow and precise! The focus is more on technique and proper alignment rather than complex choreography! Also, It's a 6 count phrase(very tricky when use to the 8 count) Then there is Ramping up where the musical phrase is 32 counts and you can get more fancy with the footwork! There will be several videos available and I'm sure Gin is just getting started with this, before you know it there will be strength-pilates-yoga and kickbox videos for it :) It is neat but it didn't sell me, I can do it all on a reg step or bosu(and I'm happy)

Oh and because of the incline of the ramp it focuses more on the PRESSING movements which works the glutes and hamstrings more rather than mainly the quads when stepping!

It's great for someone looking for low impact workouts(I prefer the rebounder) or for someone who needs a new piece of equipment to motivate them! It just didn't do it for "me" :-(

Here's some choreography for Ramping up,

Take care!

RE: Gin Miller's Ramping--my opinion

Thanks Francine for your indepth reply. I was curious about how the ramp worked the hamstrings as this is the weak point of my legs. So while the moves can be done on a reg step or bosu, does the pressing movements on the incline really work the hamstrings more? Or can you make the step or bosu challenge the hamstrings just as well?

I need to follow you around for a day to see if you really have time to inhale and exhale. Like Debbie said, you are such a busy girl, when DO you have time to breathe?:)
