gillian mckeith's personal health profile

Cathlete
since some of you have been asking, i thought i'd just do a general post.

i wanted to post about a website that i have found IMMENSELY worthwhile. dr. gillian mckeith is a britain's top holistic nutritionist (she has a show called "you are what you eat" on bbc america). anyway, i got her book a while ago then decided to check out her website. on the website, it gives you the option of getting a personal heath profile. the cost is u.s. 29.95 for a one-off health profile or 29.95 for the first month (14.95 for the profile and 14.95 for the membership) and 14.95/month for a minimum of three months for the profile and TONS of extras (things like a personalized meal plan with what to eat every day and a shopping list, forums, live chats with gillian, boot camp...i have only begun to scratch the surface). i rally don't need to be spending ANY money right now, but with all this comes with, i couldn't resisit. i have been eyeing the program for about a month!

anyway, after filling out pages of questions, i was SO impressed with my SEVENTY-SIX page health profile. it has EVERYTHING! i was more impressed with my meal plans and shopping lists. it has a meal plan for every week. it is a GREAT companion to cathe's nutrition software which i subscribed to as well. ;)

i have followed tosca's eat clean but i find gillian way more personable and her advice way more palatable. although, she does tell it like it is, which i positively love! looking through her past live chats, the comments she makes to people are spot on and NOT sugar-coated at all.

anyway, just thought i'd pass this along if there is anyone like me who REALLY needs to clean up their eating and needs a no-brainer eating plan. i am just NO GOOD when left to my own devices.

ETA...

DUH...how about posting the website???

Thanks for the info. I love her and her show. I definitely will check out her website, though I don't know if I can subscribe right now. Have you read her books? Recently I borrowed Slim for Life from the library, it was just recently published. I really liked it. It gave a meal plan for each day, along with some very straightforward talk. I just didn't feel the meal plan was realistic for me. I do, however, feel she is the smartest vegetarian I have ever seen and her meal plans are ideal if not practical for me.

ronne,

thanks for posting. it is certainly interesting reading. while tosca has TONS and TONS in her books about supplements and what they can do (as does gillian) i have aleways felt it is best to contact your own herbalist to discuss which supplements (if any) are good for you personally. i continue to take the supplements my herbalist has suggested and have not added anything.

what i like about gillian is her advise on food. she has a very straighforward approach to how to eat (much like tosca's) with organic and raw foods, complex carbs, no sugar, limited to no dairy, lots of veg, and fruit. that's the part about her i find appealing (much like i did with eat clean). i also prefer her "tone" over tosca's (which i think can be high and mighty) what i like about the health profile is the weekly meal plans (with recipes and shopping lists) and her boot camp (a 12-week program that helps you to eat better without having to "think" about it).

look at dr. phil. he is constantly acting as a psychologist and does not even have a degree in psychology! while that bothers me as psychologist who alomost has a ph.d. IN psychology (darn that stupid dissertattion!!!), he does come out with some good advise once in a while. but no, i don't think he should practise as a psychologist as he is not licensed as one. he can give all the advice (good and bad) he wants, just don't go around calling himself a psychologist.

personally, i like gillian and think she has such a wealth of information about nutrition and health (especially for those who have NO idea how to eat healthfully). as for her specific degree and where she obtained it, ugh...i was at a very well-repected major university doing my doctoral work and it was a JOKE (i did minimal work and obtained a very high gpa)! you don't really learn much in class, you really have to be in the field to learn and apply. JMO. also, look at tosca, the skinny bitch authors, and all the countelss diet book authors, and authors of the newest "get thin quick" fads (what abot the one that says you can become thin by just praying about it...pray yourself thin, or something like that). what if we dug so deeply into their "credentials?" my point is, i think a bit of this is sour grapes or take down someone who is extremely suuccesful. not that it's not valid, but if people are feeling better, eating better, and healthier, then does it really matter? it's the same thing with alcoholoics anonymous. the RESEARCH says the program has no greater of a succes rate than any other type of aclcohol and drug therapy. they all have a statistically similar success rate. try to tell that to someone whose life was chaged by AA. it doesn't matter to them. it saved their life. ya know?

thanks for posting. i had seen this before and it really didn't change my opinion. i like gillian. i feel immensely better in just four days so far and i am happy with the resources and services i have through her website.

after gaining access to her full website, i am extremely impressed and have been doing VERY well on her plan.
