Hi fitness friends!
I was in here reading posts and thought I would say how much I am enjoying my spinning class. I have been going every Sunday morning for a few weeks and, my god, what a workout!! It almost humbled me the first week and I consider myself in better than average shape. I am getting better though as the weeks go by. In fact I will be into it again in about an hour and a half. I feel so exhilirated afterwards. The hardest part for me has been the pedalling wth my butt back over the seat, almost like a squat. In mountain biking I try to stay mostly over the middle of the bike to prevent tire slippage on loose dirt. Unless I am going downhill that is....then I am basically sitting on the rear wheel. I know quite a few of you out there also spin....any advice for a newbie like myself? Clothing, shoes, form, etc.?

Advice- 2 water bottles!

Trevor, I'm half joking but one does sweat a lot more without the wind to cool you off. I use the Spinning sessions to focus on form - pedal stroke, cadence, breathing, etc. Some people wear jerseys but it seems kind of silly. Not like you have to carry a spare tube or sunblock! So I wear a wicking t-shirt, bike shorts, & bike shoes. I use SPD on the road, so I had to get shoes & cleats just for spinning to be compatible. Hopefully your instructors are into heart rate monitor training. Be interesting to hear how you integrate that into your regular routine. Have Fun!!
