Gestational diabetes test

I am having this done the next time I have a Dr. appointment. They gave me the bottle to drink and the instruction sheet to take home. I could have sworn with my last pregnancy they told me not to use the bathroom after I drank it, not until after they took my blood sample, but it says nothing on the instruction sheet. Does anyone know? Does it make any difference? Thanks!

Hi!

I had gestational diabetes with my second daughter and had all the tests with my first daughter as well. I do not remember them telling me not to go to the bathroom. I do remember I could not eat anything, but could drink water.

Hope this helps!
Mary

Thanks Mary,

Maybe I'm confusing it with another test I took. It's been three years since I was pregnant and I just can't remember!

The only instructions I got was to limit sweets for 2 days prior to the test. Of course this may explain why I failed the test and had to take the 3 hour one which I am waiting on the results for. The directions for the 3 hour test were clear, not eating from the night before.

I'm having this test done the next time I have an appointment - The instructions I received with my bottle of stuff to drink says that they no longer require any fasting or special instructions before the test. It says only to drink the whole bottle within 5 minutes, 45 minutes before my appointment.
I think things have changed a lot with these tests and they used to have a lot more rules then they need now-
