i am in the process of buying a fitness watch. i keep reading so many mixed reviews on both. Does anyone have one of these two watches. Give me your pros and cons on each.

Hello Zola1,
I own a Garmin vivofit (1st generation)and love it. I bought it January 2015 and I still have not needed to change the battery. I received a heart rate monitor for Christmas this year and am enjoying seeing my HR zone on certain workouts.
I use the Garmin Connect app on my smartphone to track my workouts, steps, sleep and my steps and exercise uploads to my fitness pal but can't get my food journal to upload to the connect app.

The only negative is it really doesn't register any type of biking, or at least I havnt figured that out.
Good luck in your decision!

Zola,

Thanks for posting this. I've been looking at Garmin and Fitbit and am torn. I know many people that have the FitBit (not the HR one though) and they love it.

Hopefully more people will reply to the thread.

I just got the Fitbit Charge HR & I am loving it! It's pushing me to up my activity throughout the day. I spent a lot of time reading reviews and eventually decided on the Fitbit. The only negative that I was seeing was some people were indicating that their Fitbits didn't accurately track intense exercise. For my first 2 intense workouts, I wore both my Polar & my Fitbit & found the results to be very similar. I haven't worn the Polar since then, and I'm a long-time Polar devotee.

Zola1, I'm so glad you asked this. The topic was brought up a while ago and still left me confused. I've also read MANY reviews. I'm looking at the Polar 300 vs the Garmin vivofit 2. I think the reviews are helpful when the reviewer mentions the workouts they do! I'm not a fan of the Fitbit as I've heard too often that it's not tracking the steps correctly, the calories burned is way underestimated etc. Still, it would be nice to have Cathletes chime in as we all seem to do advanced level wkouts. I currently have a Polar FT4. No syncing, tracking, uploading etc. I just don't want to waste time or money and would like something decent. Please share when you make your purchase.
