Gannon has the flu :(

I cannot believe that my baby has the flu. It started on Sat with just a little bit of coughing. Sunday he was not himself and slept most of the day. Monday morning he has a slight fever, I gave him tylenol and I had to send him to daycare. On Monday evening I noticed that he was very warm, he had a fever of 101. He was up ALL night. He doesn't really cry but he was whining and coughing and sounded like he had trouble breathing. We were in the bed, in the rocking chair, on the couch, back in the bed, etc. I think that from 10:00-4:45 we may have gotten 2 hours of sleep. I took his temp on Tues morning and it was 102 - I called the dr and we got in right away. Even after taking tylenol, he had a temp of 103 when we got there. Chest x-rays were done to rule out pneumonia. Turns out he's got the flu. Poor baby! I am happy to say that he doesn't have a fever today and he has been getting plenty of sleep.

I hate it when our little ones are sick.

I know he got sick from daycare. He started on Wed and by Sat he was already getting sick. I wish I didn't have to work. :(

Oh my gosh, I am so sorry. Poor little guy and poor momma, I can only imagine how hard this is for you and him.

Sending Gannon some get well soon wishes and hang in there momma!

I'm so sorry to hear Gannon is sick. I know exactly how you feel. Annamarie has been sick so much this year from the other babies at daycare passing stuff around. I've literally been to the doctor's office every other week since January. I've already used 3 sick days so far this year and I only have 2 more to last me until January 1. Of course that does not count the 3 or 4 times I left work early to pick her up to take her to the doctor. I then had to make up my hours. It really sucks when you have to work while you know your little one is sick and all you want to do is hold them and make them feel better.

I want to thank you guys for writing this stuff. I am lucky right now I get to stay home with my daughter, but my husband is really pusing for me to go back to work and put her in day care. He does not understand how hard it is and how often the babies get sick from day care. I know you guys work so hard to support your families and do everything you can to take care of your babies and I am just so sorry you little ones and you guys are having to go through this. I do hope your little ones get better soon and hang in there.

Dana! I"m sooooo sorry. <hugs> <hugs> cyberhugs coming your way!!

Little Jadon had cold when he was really little & he DOESN'T go to daycare. Little ones catch things much easier b/c their immune systems aren't broken in yet... My kids stay at home but still pick up stuff at church nursery or from their older siblings that go to school. You can't beat yourself up for going to work & bringing your kids to daycare... ;)

It certainly would be ideal if we could all stay home with our kids though, eh?!?!? Oh! How I yearn for that! I think God instilled that in our genes. ;)

Thanks for all the well wishes. I thought that he was getting better and even told my boss that I was sure I'd be in today. Well, he was fussing around 3:45 and when I felt him he was burning up. His temp was 102.8, gave him some tylenol and it an hour it was 99.7 but I know that is only b/c of the tylenol. So I called my boss at home and she is THE BEST, told me not to even think about work and I can make up my hours. I"ll be using 3 sick days this week and I only have 2 left until July 1.

The dr told me if he still had a fever by Thursday to bring him back in so that they could check his urine. BUT, they will need to do a cath. I cannot even imagine that. This may sound insane but as soon as he gets up, I'm stripping him, feeding him and putting him in the bath. He usually pees as soon as he hits the water and I"m going to be holding a cup to "hopefully" catch his pee. I know that is wishful thinking but hey, it might work.

Kristi I am so sorry about your daughter. (HUGS) Hopefully the sick season is coming to an end.

What bums me the most is that the 5 months that I was on maternity leave NONE of us were sick. Now the whole family has colds. And I did take the kids to do stuff while I was off (church, playdates, the play place at McDonalds and I know that thing is full of germs, shopping, etc). Guess that there are too many germs from too many sick kids at daycare. Oh how I wish I didn't have to work.
