Future Cathe addict?

My little girl (4 years old) joined me (sort of) in doing PS: Legs and Abs this morning. It was SO cute watching her try to do dead-lifts with her little 2 lb. dumbbells.

When we were doing the floor exercises, she looks at Cathe and says, "I love her. Her hair is pretty." She also loves Rhonda.

I think she's starting to get an appreciation of how much hard work it is to do these tapes. She thought it was hilarious when my legs started shaking during the sit-and-stands. Yeah - REAL hilarious!:p

LOL! Very cute! Given how much kids love Cathe, wouldn't it be a hoot to have a kids's Cathe video, with her two little boys as her co-exercisers?

THAT is a great idea! Have you seen how lame the exercise videos are for little kids? I could totally see Cathe doing a kids workout video.

Hey, you took the idea right out of my head! After Hardcore comes out, I was going to post and BEG Cathe to consider making a workout for kids. Our family is in great need. Maybe if we all begged and pleaded she would consider it.

p.s. Until that time comes, can anyone recommend a decent kids workout.

I mean this in a totally curious way....not being derogatory at all and I know to each his own. I do not have children of my own but I teach kindergarten. Why would you actually want your child to do a workout video instead of just running and playing outside for the sheer fun of it? Or is it more like they see you working out and want to do it also so you would like to have a tape for them to follow? Also, there are many music tapes/DVD's that we use at school that get the children singing, dancing, and moving in all kinds of fun ways. I will be glad to get you some names if you would like. You can probably get them at any teacher store. Greg and Steve are what I use a lot of. They have all kinds of movement songs that are just fun and the kids don't even realize they are getting a "workout" in. I enjoy my singing and dancing time with the children as much as they do if not more...tee hee!

The reason I would like fitness videos for kids is because kids seem to enjoy doing them. So, why not offer them another avenue, along with the ones you've mentioned, to get some exercise? Plus, it will become a basis for possibly doing adult exercise videos when they're older; they're familiar with the concept. I firmly believe that role modelling is the most effective parenting tool, and make it a point to show my 4 year old that exercise is a priority for everyday living, and that working hard and challenging yourself can be fun and rewarding. I would never force her to do an exercise video, but given how she willing tries to do some of my Cathe workouts, I think she would happily do a kids' video. We are heading into our long, dark, cold winters up here, so if there's an opportunity to exercise within the confines of our living room, that is terrific.

I bought her a kids' yoga video when she was 3, and she loved it. She did it for at least a month, every day, and got pretty good at it. She doesn't ask for the video anymore, but she will get down on the floor with me when I'm doing my own yoga, and do the moves that she knows how to do. It's really sweet.

Cheers,
Sandra

Well, one reason I would like a good workout video for my daughter is so we could do it together. A big reason we don't go outside and run around and play all the time is because we have long, cold winters. This past summer rained almost every day that we weren't at school and work. You see the problem here.

Sometimes I'll set my AOL radio on the Kids Tunes station and Teri and I will dance in the living room. That's a lot of fun.

I'd be interested in some DVD's that you could suggest.
