Hello ladies, in light of the Christmas season,
I wanted to share a very awesome candy recipe
with you. I know this is really **bad**, but you
will thank me for it, especially if you like
SNICKERS candy bars. These tastes EXACTLY like them,
but with a homemade taste. You may want to plan
on doing some hard core cardio after you make
these, 'cause it is hard to eat just one.

CHOCOLATE CARAMEL CANDY~

1 CUP (6~ozs.) milk chocolate chips
1/4 cup butterscotch chips
1/4 cup creamy peanut butter

FILLING~

1/4 Cup butter or margarine
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup evaporated milk
1 1/2 cups marshmallow creme
1/4 cup creamy peanut butter
1 tesp. vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups chopped salted peanuts

CARAMEL LAYER~

1 package (14 ozs.) caramels
1/4 cup whipping cream

ICING~

1 cup (6 0zs.) milk chocolate chips
1/4 cup butterscotch chips
1/4 cup creamy peanut butter

DIRECTIONS~

Line a 13-in.x9-in. pan with foil, butter the foil
and set aside. Combine the first three ingredients
in a small saucepan, stir over low heat until melted
and smooth. Spread into prepared pan. Chill in frig.
until set. For filling melt the butter in a heavy
saucepan over medium heat. Add sugar and milk, bring
to a gentle boil and stir for 5 min. Remove from the
heat, stir in marshmallow creme, peanut butter, and
vanilla. Add peanuts. Spread over first layer. Chill
in frig. until set. Combine caramels and cream in a
saucepan, stir over low heat until melted and smooth.
Cook and stir 4 min longer. Spread over filling. Chill
in frig. until set.In another saucepan, combine chips
and peanut butter, sitr over low heat until melted and
smooth. Pour over the caramel layer. Chill for at least
four hours. Remove from the frig 20 min before cutting.
Remove from pan, cut into 1" squares. Yield: about 8 dozen.

I got this recipe from one of my Taste Of Home books. It
takes a little time because of the chilling with each
layer, but it is worth the wait.

Better go get that workout in now or I will be in trouble later!!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS AND ENJOY!!!!!!!!

SOUNDS DIVINE!!!!! I love those cookbook magazine...especially Quick Cooking. Thanks. I just got a box of Belgian (spelling?) chocolates from a co-worker, and I put them on a pantry shelf till Friday. They aren't singing to me yet....what language to you think I'll hear? French perhaps? "Fa-la-la...come to ze pantry, leetle girl!!! I give you some candy."

Honeybunch,
I do hope you try this recipe, it is worth the effort.
I also get Quick cooking. Did you know that they have
a book club? Every year they send you a hard back
cookbook with all that years recipies that were in the
magazines. They do this for Taste of Home and Quick
Cooking. They also have a new magazine out called
Light And Tasty.............it has some really good
light homecooked meals. You are just too funny I do
really enjoy reading your posts!!
Take care and let me know if you get around to
making these.

I just subscribed to Light & Tasty. I'll try this recipe for a party I'm having on 12/29....until then I have to eat down the freezer inventory! I baked cakes and it takes a while to get rid of them when I only eat junk once a week. I made the mistake of leaving some goodies unfrozen, and they talked me into eating some on a MONDAY!!! No good! Frozen food's call is muffled by the cold temp of the freezer, don't ya know.

Too funny!! Ya, I make homemade candy for gifts (isn't that mean)
and just had to put all my candy in the garage freezer. Too
tempting. The call from the garage freezer is not as loud!!
I don't want to gain back the 20 I've lost, just trying to maintain. I also get Light and Tasty mag. I hope they eventually make them into cookbooks also. They usually do in time. It's much easier to store cookbooks than mags.
Ok, gotta go get the kiddos up and going, have a great day!!
