Fresh fruit alternatives?

Does anyone else find that they buy a ton of fruit at the market and then it's eaten in a couple of days? Or, there are times when there isn't a ton of decent fruit available depending on where you live and the time of year. I'm thinking maybe I should buy some V8 or use some other alternative when I'm getting low on fresh stuff. Does anybody have any tips or tricks on this?

Have you tried canning or freezing the fruit you buy? Just an idea. That is how we are able to enjoy the wonderful fruit and veggies we grow.

whatabout raisins? not a poor substitute for fresh fruit...sometimes i also buy dried apples without any artificial sweeteners or sugar added to them.

I always keep a few cans of fruit in the pantry, just in case I get a carving and I don't have the fresh fruit around. I buy it in its own juice when available. Never in syrup. Pineapple, peaches, pears.....etc.

You can buy dried fruits (or get a dehydrator and dry your own), then reconstitute them (the texture changes somewhat) when you want to use them.
