found the natural Peanut Butter.

Had heard about some of you ladies discussing the Natural PB. I was looking for regular PB when I saw Smuckers had it. I haven't tried it yet, just wanted to know if the taste is good. And what benefits it give vs. regular PB.

I love the taste, but I'm used to it. If you're used to the typical p.b. wih added sugars and fake stuff, it does taste different. Not as smooth, for one thing (p.b. like Jif gets that smoothness by the added ingredients in it). You might want to pour off about 1/3 of the oil on top before stirring it in, to make a lower fat p.b.

The benefits of it vs typical pb? It's not as processed. Doesn't contain added sweeteners. Contains good fats that are naturally from the peanuts and not added. Almost anything that's all natural is better than something that contains added ingredients.

Natural peanut butter also does not contain hydrogenated fat. :) (commercial peanut butter, margerine, etc all do contain hydrogenated fats. That is what gives the "creamy texture and mouthfeel" to those processed products. It is very bad for you though). But because natural peanut butter doesn't have this "modified" fat in it, the consistency will be much different from what you are use to. Natural peanut butter is pure. It's basically just ground peanuts. The oils will seperate, so you'll need to get a strong butter knife to churn the peanut butter (which will be very hard when you refrigerate it) together with the oils (which settle on top). You'll have to do this every once in a while.

Organic almond butter is yummy too. I use a tsp of almond butter added to oatmeal (along with some cinnamon and stevia). I find that the almond butter tends to hide the off taste of any protein powder I add to the oatmeal.
