Form pointer for Front Lunges

I have wanted to ask this for a while now but still feel kind of silly not knowing the answer.

When you do a front lunge and you say push off with your heel, do you mean the heel on the front foot or the back foot. Am I returning to the start position by pressing my front heel down or by pressing my back heel down. I keep alternating when doing the PS series and am always trying to figure out where I am feeling the most work. Sometimes the whole thing feels like work and I can't figure it out!

I am slowly recovering from a terrible bout of pneumonia and haven't been able to do any exercise for two weeks. I have been watching a Cathe weight training video a day and really thinking about my form. Should help when I can get back on that exercise "horse".

Hi Cybersis!

Hope you don't mind me butting in here. When you do a lunge, you push up thru the heel of the FRONT foot. Your back heel is lifted off the floor behind you as you make the 45* angels with both knees. Hope you are feeling well soon. That's a great idea to take advantage of your downtime to watch the tapes to perfect your form! Good Luck!

RE: Hi Cybersis!

Thanks for that quick reply. I think I will watch that segment again and practice a few times so I can get the proper feel for the move.
