form in lunges

As far as I can tell and have been told from others, my form is dead on..however, my back foot ALWAYS kills me, like its going numb. Because of that, I almost always have to come out of the lunge early. What am I doing wrong? I've tried shifting the weight more forward but then I'm in danger of losing my form. HELP!

I honestly don't have an expert answer for you, but one thing that came to mind is maybe your shoes are tied too tight? So when you flex your back foot during the lunge, it's cutting off circulation to your toes? It's just a thought, but I could be totally off. Try doing it without wearing any shoes (I don't necessarily recommend doing this all the time, but just for an experiment!), and see if you still have the same numbness problem. If not, then the problem is your shoes. If you do experience numbness without shoes, then the problem is probably physiological (since you are told your form is excellent).

I was thinking the same thing--it could be a shoe issue. It could actually be that the shoe is too loose also--you might be pinching a nerve or something b/c you don't have the right support. I tie my shoes as tight as I can when I do lunges to maintain stability.

Shoes were the first thing that came to my mind as well.
You might have to fiddle around with how they are laced: they may need to be tightened or loosened in specific areas.

Shoes come to mind here as well. I have had problems with my toes going numb. I went to a New Balance Store and had my feet measures. I also learned there to loosen the laces in the toe are. I used to pull them up tight. Mainly because I have narrow heels and felt like my shoes were slipping. I needed my heel area to hug close and my toes to be loose.
