We will know by the end of the week if we be allowed to bring in the High Step. Our request now has to go to the President of the Step Company in the USA. The Step Company was under the impression that it was relatively easy for our customers to purchase from the USA and get the High Step delivered to Canada. They were unaware of the significant shipping costs and customs charges involved with buying from the USA.
Update September 12:
We are in negotiations with The Step Company in the USA to bring in the High Step. The problem is that the Canadian Distributor has the rights to this product but does not want to bring it into Canada for us. We need to have special permission from the USA company and the Canadian Distributor in order to bring in the High Step. We should have more information .... hopefully .... in about 2 weeks.
Update August 28:
We still hope to be able to bring in the High Step for our customers. We should have more information on the Step availability sometime in September. Our High Step will be imported from Cathe Friedrich's office and we are still waiting for High Step information from her office.
I just ordered my topper from the Cathe site. It's a bit more expensive in terms of Canadian dollars but I think it will be well worth it. Actually, I usually order all of my equipment from American sites. It is expensive, but I have really enjoyed all my purchases and think it is money well spent! If I had to wait for some Canadian company to get their act together enough to bring in the reboundair, Troy Lite bar, Fanny Lifter etc. I really think I would have gone mad with frustration and probably would be desperately trying to move to the States just for proper equipment!!
Oh yes, I also want to say that I have always had prompt, excellent service from all the American companies I have dealt with. I am so happy to be living next door to such a GREAT country!
[blockquote]Update October 6:
The Step Company has informed us that they still don't have an answer to our request to bring in the High Step. They will not tell us "Yes" and they will not tell us "No". They're telling us to call again at the end of the week. We realize this leaves all of us in a state of limbo and all we can do is to keep trying on behalf of our Canadian customers. [/blockquote]
:-( I wish the Step Co. would just give them an answer either way. Grrr.
I really admire cksales persistence. Even though I have already ordered the topper from Cathe's site I would still order from cksales just to support them (besides the extra risers could come in handy )
I wish they would give us the email address of someone to write to at the Step Company. Apparently there is an exclusive distributor in Canada. Well at least couldn't they tell us where they are distributed to? I prefer to order from CKSales because of their excellent service, but I'd be willing to order from somewhere else if there was no other option.
I love the service I get in the U.S. but I hate the punishment we get if we order bigger items. First its high postage. Because many of the places find it easier to ship UPS - we get charged really high customs brokerage fees (USPS/Canada post is much more reasonable), and the taxes on top of all that. If I could get something USPS shipped (groundmail or airmail) I'd have a better shot at keeping the fees down.
Oh well, that's what happens when you don't live where all the action is! Maybe I need to move to the U.S.? Maybe I can get a job cleaning Cathe's new gym!
Punky you are too funny. What we will do to get good equipment! I feel the same way. The costs are extremely expensive, however the way I look at it if UPS didn't bring it, I would end up taking a trip down south to pick up my equipment When my DH heard me talking about going south just to pick up a Fanny Lifter he looked at me like I was mad and said "wouldn't it be cheaper and faster to just have UPS deliver it?" So that's what I've been doing:7 It's unfortunate though because I just paid about $75.00 Cdn. for a Troy Lite bar that originally sells for around $18.00 .Usually I am a bargain hunter but when it comes to this equipment I just HAVE to have it:9
Ah a fellow crazy person who understands. I have you beat though. I got all excited with the 5th Element clothes Cathe was wearing in the new videos. It never occurred to me that buying something from the UK was different than the US (ie no free trade agreement). I ordered about $150 worth of clothes and got charged $20 in shipping and the $60 in duties and taxes! They are the most expensive workout clothes I own!
My hubby laughed at me when I said he better like them because I am wearing gold leaf clothing!
Wow! Expensive clothes but I bet they look great! I'm not even going to think about buying clothes from outside Canada. Even though I know that the Americans have some great workout outfits:9 (oh no, now I'm thinking about it...x( )
