? for those with low body fat %

I don't know my exact body fat % but my BMI is around 18-19. I'm fairy lean( not as lean as I want to be) and yes I do get colder and esp after I eat- go figure.

I haven't had such a low body fat % like I used to, but when I was very low, 13% approximately, I was very cold. Kinda of self -defeating, since you can't show off your hard work.x(

This is funny for me, I have always been cold. Covered with many comforters at night and wearing heavy clothes. 70 degrees outside and I would hunt down a sweater. Now with menopause, most of the time I am running around, even during the winter with the air on in the car(poor grandchildren, they do have coats:) ). I think I am getting to the end of it though, because I get cold once in awhile. Blankets are on and off me at night most of the time. My thermostat for the heat and air is manipulated a lot. But, in answer to the question, yes I am normally colder with a lower bodyfat.

OK Diane Sue, you are almost on my hit list!!! Do you know how many HORMONAL women I work with? Seriously? Is it my fault they are sweaty?!!!! I have to wear freakin sweats @ work & I am in Texas!!!!!
I have no choice but freakin' give in 'cause one of them is my boss, but freakin' A!!! Sometimes I wonder if they just don't need to loose weight rather than whine that the freakin' air is hot when it's 65 dgrees outside!!! ARRRRGGGGGHHHH!!!!

Marla

I don't consider my body fat to be that low, around 18 now. But during the holidays when I was 4 lbs. heavier, I could get around in the Texas winter (low to high 50s) in a light coat. Now that I've shed off MOST of what I want to shed, I wear 3 layers around the house -- and our thermostat is at 70 degrees.

I am sorry Marla,
I remember going to the doctor office and it being freezing. I always wondered why they kept it so cold, maybe someone was having a hormonal thing. I had to take my daughter a coat once because she was there with a fever and they had her waiting an hour and a half. I hate being cold as much as I hate being to hot. No one knows how it feels till they are there. I used to think my grandmother and mother were freaky with the sweating thing, but have since realized why they acted like they did. I really do try and be considerate of others. I dress down to try and avoid freezing everyone out of the house or car. Also if my grandchildren complain about being cold, which is rare, I do turn the heat up. I love them to much to make them miserable, I would rather sit there with the sweat running down my neck. Would love to have one of those double electric blankets where both sides has a controller. I am sure my side would get a workout. I really do know where you are coming from on this.

When I read this question is seemed a little silly...but now it makes sense! When i see overweight people they are (for the most part)sweating. The backs of their heads are dripping with sweat.I see them at work all the time. But it makes sense for small people to be cold if overweight people are hot.
Im neither....."just right" as my friend Goldilocks once said.
Lori:)

Well, I'm just the opposite. When I was younger I was around 15% body fat and was always warm. The women at work would be freezing and I would be wearing sleeveless tops. Now that I'm older and have more body fat, I freeze all the time.

When I was anorexic, I was always freezing. I couldn't even wash dishes or do laundry because the water would make me so unbearably cold. Since I gained the weight back (plus some!x( ), I'm much more comfortable.

You are just too sweet, Diane Sue. I wish you did work with me. Actually, I don't exagerate that my coworkers make it cold for us. We have control of our own thermostat. Even the patients that come through complain too.

Marla

Marla,
If I were there I would make sure you were warm. It is not fair to put ones problems on others. I really do know what it is like to be sitting in a restaurant or theater freezing cold. It really can make me lose the fun factor. I know that I posted in jest, but there is really a serious side to this as well.

Nice calves in your pic:) Are those genetic or do you really work them hard? If so, tell me how you're doing it...I'm calve deficient :+

Thanks guys, for the compliments!

I am sorry to tell you I have beefy calves by genetics! I rarely work them at all and when I am doing a workout that includes them, I actually take it easy. I have ALWAYS been very self conscious about my lower legs because they are so huge...they are the same size as my lower thigh!

They may be so huge because as a youngster, I pretty much walked on the balls of my feet all the time...trying to be taller. I am sporting 4'11.5"!! I'm a dwarf!

Good pics Sarah. You are in great shape. Really adorable children as well. And here I have to really work at my calves:-(
Diane Sue

My goal is do look as hot as you, Diana Sue! I often think of you while I work out and push harder..."If I am ever going to look as good as Diana Sue, I've got to work it like Diana Sue...I know she's pushing hard"! You're a true inspiration!

Sarah, you look fantastic! You look much taller in your pictures. I would never have guessed you were as tall as me. Do you know what BF% your are in the pictures taken in front of the mirror?:)

Sarah, your calves look great, they are not beefy. I also walked on my tips for a long time.

You look much taller. I would of never guessed 4'11".
