Ok.... I don't post here much but this board and the ya ya board has been essential to my fitness goals. Over the past ten months I have gone from not moving to flying aka IMAX2.... SO here is my question

I need to fix my eating.. it is off the deep end. I'm sure in the 10 months I've been working out 5-6 days a week, I've gained weight... some muscle, yes (AND THANKS TO PUB I HAVE SHOULDERS FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER!!!!!!!!!!! Even when I was 250lbs I didn't have shoulders LOL)... Anyhow.... on many recommendations on this board and the ya ya board, I've bought the lean bodies book and cook book.. however there is something I'm confused about...

is whole grain pasta and red peppers allowed during the first 7 weeks? Wow that was alot of typing for one little question LOL...

also, what essentials did you find you used the most from the store? I'm on a budget, so I don't want to go crazy and then find out that I didn't get what I really needed...

Thanks!
Susan

Hi Susan. It's been a long time (1996) since I read Lean Bodies. Most of that is 2nd nature to me. The other half is my DH's bad habits rubbing off on me. I can't remember him banning anything like red peppers for 7 weeks. That's a lean fibrous vegetable. Good for you, very nutritious. As far as whole wheat pasta, he is big on unprocessed foods but tells you that you can have these I think a couple times a week (small helpings) and earlier in the day. I also remember he used to say NO to white pasta.

A main staple is brown rice (not quick cooking), Sweet potatoes, beans, legumes. Notice the order. Lot's & lot's of spices. It's not hard. It can just get a little bland if you don't have time in the kitchen. Let me know how I can help. You might just motivate me to get a little more strict & not just settle for whatever DH is eating read: pizza, white hamburger buns etcx( .

I have MCT oil, but never really used it because it would really cramp my stomach & didn't taste too good. So it's still sitting in my cupboard. I don't think its necessary & still lost body fat without MCT or hardly any supplements just a protein shake here or there. If you got it, how did you intend to use it? As salad dressing oil or what?

So what did you eat today. I started off badly today because we had a catered lunch by the hospital from On the Border. Tomorrow however I will follow my six mini-meals and I will be accountable to you. First meal, oatmeal & egg whites.

Marla

P.S. What other forums do you visit that have Lean Bodies followers?

Marla...i LOOOVVVVEEEE On The Border (and any mexican food). You are making my mouth water!!!! Sorry, just had to say that!!!

Hi Susan!

B- 2 boiled egg whites 1 egg yolk, 2 w/w toast, ketchup.
L- (3hrs later) large salad w/ broccoli, cauliflower, purple onion, red beans, non-fat drsg, chicken breast,
S- small chicken breast.
D- protein smoothie

I love salsa on my eggs too & that is a staple of mine, but went w/ ketchup today. I actually had lentil soup last night myself. I wanted tomatos myself but the hospital is just giving them to patients & guests. RUDE!

Marla:D:

Tomatoes are in very short supply because of the Florida hurricanes. The crop was damaged, not enough to go around and very expensive.
