For those of you that own or use a BOWFLEX???

I've been hinting around to DH that I really, really, really want a Bowflex. I requested the info and read up on them, watched the DVD, etc. My DH seems to think that they are over-rated, a waste of money and that you can get the same results from free weights and cheap weight equipment from Wal-Mart. Is he right???? Can you please tell me what you like about your Bowflex, what types of results you've gotten, which Bowflex product you have and if there is anything that you dislike about it? I'd love to finance one within the next year but I don't want my DH saying, "I told you so" if it isn't all that I thought it would be. Thanks!

I have one and use it a lot. It does have a different feel than using weights. I would say the resistance poundages are off. It helps me go higher on squats though without putting the barbell over my head, downside here is setting up the squat attachment. I also am able to do leg curls and extensions with the leg curl attachment which is hard to do with free weights. I use the lat tower for heavy pulldowns while doing P90X. You can use the resistance for ab work as well. I have had mine for several years now. It is the Power Pro. I would like to upgrade someday to the newer model. For the most part changing resistance on it is easy. I use it on workouts like S&H for heavier squats and like to use it for arm work as well.

All I can tell you is the results my brother has gotten from it. I don't know what model he uses though. He is paralyzed and so only works his arms, but when he works out on the bowflex, his arms get huge. I've tried it a time or two on a couple of exercises, and it does feel different from free weights. As I said, I don't know anything about the leg workouts, but from an upper body perspective, I don't think it would be a waste of money.

We have a Bowflex. I don't use it but DH does. He really likes it. We have one of the older models, so I'm sure the new one's are even better. I use the cheap weights and barbell from Walmart and get GREAT results. Our biggest issue with the Bowflex is that it takes up so much room, although the newer models are smaller.

My question is will I look as good as Diane Sue, if I use Bowflex?}(

Diane Sue is ONE HOT woman! Kudos to you, Diane Sue. You are an inspiration! :) :)

I would love to have one. DH won't part with those big gym weight machines that are 30 yrs old. I have no room for one.
I do think band resistance work is awesome. You have the benefits of resistance both ways.
I for one would buy one.
