For Stevia Users

I bought some stevia yesterday from Trader Joe's. I bought the powdered kind. I don't know if it's me but does it taste like sucralose to you as well?? Needless to say I wasn't too impressed with the taste of it as it reminded me of sucralose.

I've never used sucralose and don't intend to, so I can't compare the two.

How are you using it?

You have to use a very small amount of stevia, if you use too much, it can taste strange: usually kind of licorice-like or "too sweet."

I put half a teaspoon in my green tea yesterday and all I can say was HOLY SH*T! Then I made my second cup of tea since I threw the first one out and used only 1/4 teaspoon. I couldn't really taste much with my second cup of tea but I could still "taste" it. I've only used sucralose a couple of times by accident because I didn't know what it really was back then. I'm not going to stop using stevia but I couldn't get over how sweet it was and how much it tasted like sucralose. I wouldn't say licorice taste but it has a bit of an unusual taste. A protien shake I use has stevia in it and it sure doesn't taste that sweet. A friend said to keep using it as I'll get used to it. Thanks for replying my post, Kathryn! Also, I do have a question I've been meaning to ask you but haven't had the time to ask you...Where'd you purchase your green tea extract? Thanks! :)

I bought the 6 pack when they had a 50%-off special! They often have specials and sales.

I have a powdered stevia that is mixed in with inulin fiber (stevia is so super sweet, it has to be mixed with something else). I put just a sprinkle in when I want to sweeten a cup or glass of something. For liquid, just 2-5 drops (depending on how tall the glass is) work. Try to use even less than 1/4 tsp. It really IS concentrated!
