Hi Shelia,
I am just wondering if you know of any studies that have been done on women who exercise throughout their pregnancies until the end, and the occurance of meconium staining? The reason I ask is because 2/3 of my previous pregnancies when my water broke there was meconium present. The two times that it was present were with the pregnancies that I worked out with until I delivered. I have read that it can be caused when the baby has been under some stress in the womb. So I was wondering if working out can contribute to the baby experiencing stress in the womb? I should mention too that they both were 8 days overdue, so I have read that that can sometimes be a factor as well. Just curious if you know anymore on this?
Thank you : )

Just wanted to let you know that I am not aware of any studies that show a higher incidence of meconium staining when mom is an exerciser. Yes, usually meconium is a result of fetal stress and that could be for many reasons, regular exercise not being one of them during a healthy, low-risk pregnancy. Do not worry - from the available literature, I do not believe that your exercise caused the meconium.

Thanks for replying Shelia :)
It makes me feel better to know that you don't know of any studies that corelates the two.
