? for Runners Out There

I was wondering how you fit in Cathe workouts in addition to your runs. Do you alternate days of weight training and running? Do you primarily run for your cardio?

As you can imagine, right now I can't do any running. However, I'm trying to come up with a workout schedule to use probably 6 weeks postpartum, which will probably include a lot of walking & jogging. Ideally, I would like to eventually run 5 miles, but I realize that will take me months to work up to that.

TIA!

Have you looked at runners world? They might have some suggestions. I always tried to do longer runs on "cardio only" days, then short 2-3 mile runs on weight days.

Runners World has some sections of their magazine sometimes about running and pregnancy. I would expect that would include post-pregnancy information as well.

Kristi....it so depeneds on what kind of results you are looking for. I have run for about 27 years and also lifted weights along with running. Amy is right www.runnersworld.com has great info, so does www.coolrunning.com . As long as you ease into it and start slow you will work up to 5 miles...:)...Carole

I usually replace a 1 hour Cathe workout with a 1 hour run. I often do one of the warmups from Cathe's videos to warm me up for the run and use Stretch Max after. Some days I just need to do something different, especially for cardio. I alternate weight training days with Cardio days but I don't do lower body weight training very often. Between step and running I think my lower body gets what it needs. I do lower body stuff when I do the total body workouts.
