A little story...
At 3pm this afternoon, my dad came home with a pug that our neighbor saw walking around by himself around the block. We have a pug, Mikey, so it was strange to have found a lost dog that was also a pug. We racked our brains trying to figure out if we knew the little guy and where he could have come from. I called the new pug "Mr. Red" because he had on a red collar. Unfortunately, there was no tag
My dad and I walked Mikey & Mr. Red around the neighborhood, but no one recognized him. We called the police, but no one had reported a missing dog. We then took him to the vet to see if he had a chip, and he did, but he was not registered, so we still didn't know who he was. On the way home, the poor little guy threw up on me in the car. I don't know if he was nervous or sad or what!
We kept Mr. Red at our house, fed him, gave him treats, and cuddled with him. He was very well-behaved and sweet. Mikey was confused and didn't like that we were giving this other dog attention, but he took it pretty well. He even let Mr. Red play with his toys and lay on his pillow- and shared some of his turkey lol!
Finally, around 9pm, the police called to tell us that there was a hysterical woman looking for her lost dog. The woman & her fiancée came to our house, and sure enough, the pug was their "Pooka." It was such a nice little reunion. They brought their other pug, Moe, and the three of them were pretty cute together. As it turns out, the dog walker didn't have the leash on Pooka, and he got away. The guy left a note on this poor woman's door! He actually lived around the block, so we found it very strange that we didn't run into him.
Anyway, the people were very nice and of course so happy to see Pooka. I know that if Mikey were lost, I'd be devastated and would probably organize a massive search party. Pooka went home, and Mikey was happy to have us all to himself again.
I didn't know that even if a dog has a chip, it has to be activated in order to track him. Mikey will be getting one of those immediately!
Have a great day everyone!
