For Food Network fans...how I messed up Bobby Flay's Restaurant!

This is a true story...

A couple of winters back, I decided to sign up with a temp agency to make some extra $$$, (and ease the boredom of the winter months at the Jersey Shore).

I received a call from the agency telling me that there was a temporary position available at the Borgata Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City in a clerical office, I figured, what the heck, I'll give it a shot.

Before I continue, a little background info is in order. Because of my back condition, I cannot work in the labor field at all. OK, to continue...

I arrived at the Borgata, only to find the swank office I thought would be mine for a few weeks, was in fact a construction trailer for the new wing of the hotel. My job was to take updated blue prints, and match the dates with the originals.

Again..background info..I have about as much business being around a construction trailer as Lindsey Lohan has being in a liquor store.

The field manager grabs a stack of blue prints, and tells me to follow him..he proceeds to have me climb up this makeshift ladder..which is actually a wooden pallet, and into this room where there is one lightbulb, no heat..remember, this is winter time in New Jersey, not Florida..and one desk with no chair.

My back was already slightly aggravated by climbing the wooden pallet of a ladder, I was freezing, but I chose to try, I'm not a quitter. I open the blue prints..it is plans for the new Bobby Flay Steakhouse at the Borgata. As a Food Network fan myself, I think this is somewhat cool. Of course I have less than zero idea of what it is I'm looking at, and just as I'm about to pretend I have a clue, I proceed to drop the bundle of blue prints all over the ground. They were held in place by this metal binder which weighed about 25 pounds, I knew right then and there this wasn't going to work. I proceeded to contact the field manager, he returned to angrily pick up the prints, as I proceeded to my car to angrily call the staff agency to ask them what the deal was, clerical work, my butt!!!

About a month later, I read the local paper where I see that the opening of Bobby Flay Steak will be a little delayed due to some construction delays. Hmmmmmmm. Don't think it was me, but just the same, I have chosen to never again show my face at the Borgata.

On a side note, I will never work for a temp agency again!!!;)
