I sell a good bit of stuff on eBay and I do lots of business with several people in Canada. On the customs form I usually mark the 'other' box since it is a purchase and there isn't any box for that.

I sold something last night to a new person and she requested I check the 'gift' box. Will this make any difference for me? I am guessing this has something to do with the customs charge but I've never had to do this before.

As far as I know it shouldn't make any difference to you. She's only doing it so she doesn't have to pay ridiculous customs charges, duties and taxes.

Yeah, I think Shelley is right. I only had to pay custom charges one time when I ordered from ebay, everything else Ive ever bought was sent as a gift and I never had to pay anything at the door.
