Hi all! This may seem like a weird question, but what kind of sneakers do most of you wear while doing step or circuit workouts? I am a runner and have been using my running sneakers but I am wondering if these are the right things to be wearing. I do sometimes experience ankle problems, especially during lunges. Are there shoes out there for weight training/step? Any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

IMO, running shoes are not ideal for step/circuit workouts because they lack the lateral support you need for these workouts. I think a cross-trainer or an aerobic shoe is better. I know a lot of people rave over the Ryka studio shoes, but they're cut too high for my taste. So I just wear a New Balance cross-trainer when I do step/circuit/anything besides running. :)

I don't think running shoes are great for step/circuit work either, because of the lateral support issue. I wear New Balance cross-trainers or Rykas for step/kickboxing/weights and New Balance running shoes for running:)

I wear Avia Cross Trainers. I used to wearing running shoes but stopped when my podiatrist said not to wear them. Not good for lateral moves.

I have a pair of Ryka Engage and absolutely LOVE them! I had Enlights previously and wasn't thrilled with them. I wore New Balance for years before that and was happy with them as well.
