Food Processors

Hey everyone,

I was wanting to buy my boyfriend a new food processor, as his is old and very tiny. The problem is that I've never even used one, so I have no idea what to look for. He doesn't need a big one, just a step above teeny-tiny :). He mainly uses it for making pesto, but I'm sure he'd use it for other things if he could actually fit stuff in there.

I'd like a decent quality one, also, but I can't spend tons. He loves to cook, and cooks for me everyday. He at least deserves something that won't break immediately :D

Any suggestions?
Thanks so much!

Sara

I have a KitchenAid. I love it. They are not cheap (about $150-200), but they are affordable, especially if you use one a lot. There are two different sizes (I think). If you go to chefscatalog.com they have several brands to choose from.

Hi Sara--it's so nice to see you posting again!

Look here: http://www.epinions.com/Food_Processors

They give you several ways to search; by brand, price range, cup capacity, etc. I've always had pretty good luck with this website. I think the reviews are reliable, but you can also double check them against the reviews at another site like Amazon if you're in doubt. Good luck and let us know which one you decide on. :)

Sara:

Cuisinart. It is the one thing I could not cook with - I got my first (and second) one for a wedding gift 24 years ago and I still have both and use them numerous times for each meal (it seems).

Cusinart 11 Cup processor here! Love it! If you have the space go for the 11 cup model. It's one you can grow with.

Thanks girls! So much.

I know what to look for now. I had absolutely no direction before :).

Thanks, Michele. It's good to be back. My entire world's been turned upside down in the last year, so my mind was in other places. I hope to "see" you around more :)

Thanks,
Sara

I have had my Cuisinart (I think 7 cup) for 8 years and still going strong. Do you have a Bed Bath & Beyond near you? They always send out 20% off coupons and you could probably use one on this food processor.

I love it for making my favorite healthy snack - fruit chewies (raisins, raw nuts, figs, and dates).
