;)I am tackling another item on my "bucket list": learning how to play piano! I have always wanted to be able to read music and play tunes on the piano for my own enjoyment and at the age of 48 years young, have finally put my toe into the pool! We bought a keyboard for Christmas and some adult beginner "how-to" books. I am having so much fun:D!!! Not only is it good for my soul, but it keeps my hands busy so I don't munch after dinner during practice:eek:!!! Between aquiring a new skill and aquiring a healthier body through Cathe's workouts, I can't wait to see where I'll be a year from now!!!!
Still playing only one hand at a time,

Nanbo - congratulations on your piano play. I was where you are some time ago. About 10-11 years ago I too decided I was going to learn to play the piano. I had some exposure to music as a child in that I could sing, play some guitar by ear, and had some musicality. I did not know how to read music and I never took any formal music lessons.

10-11 yrs ago I took lessons at a local music school during the lunch hour. I bought a digital piano to practice at home. I learned how to read music, finger/scale exercises, etc. after only 4 months of play I actually played in a small school recital that had adult music students of all levels. During the reception one of the other performing students asked me how many years I'd been playing and was surprized when I told her i was still a novice.

Alas, I never kept up with the lessons. If I were to sit in front of one now, I could not play one thing for you except maybe chop sticks. Life got in the way and I finally sold the piano on craigslist a couple of years ago.

I loved playing piano and perhaps when I retire I may pick it up again. Keep with it. You will do great. Check the youtube videos for some helpful tips also!
