Anyone on here buy an RCA floor model HD television lately? We have one that my mother-in-law bought us as a Christmas gift in 2006. The warranty just ran out about 2 months ago. Today I was watching a movie and *blip* the darn thing turned off on its own. I went and fiddled with it and it would come on (the "on" button would turn green) and then it would click off again - no picture would come up.
After extensive research we discovered the cause is a "flyback transformer" which - of course - is no longer manufactured. In order to repair this enormous big screen tv, we would have to pay $200 to have it transported to the TV repair shop, another minimum $100 in parts, and yet another approximately $250 to have the transformer "rebuilt" from scratch! Needless to say, I could purchase another television with that amount so I am disgusted.
So, we have the giant thing pushed to the side and our tiny TV back in the family room (aka: my work out room). I used to feel like I was in class with Cathe watching her on that giant screen. Now, I feel like I'm on the side walk peeking in the window.
Dang it.
Just another bite of crap sandwich. Chomp chomp.
Pass the ketchup.
