fluid levels

Cathlete
so i went for another us yesterday (my baby is measuring small but otherwise normal.) in the week since i was last in my fluid level has dropped from a 15 to an 8. anything over 5 is normal i guess, but they are concerned my level is dropping and now want to check me with the us twice a week. have not spoken to my dr yet, just the ultrasonographer who said to decrease my activity. not sure if that means no work, bed rest, no exercise or just less?!?needless to say, i did nothing this morning but am working a normal day as i wait for my dr to call. i feel fine, albeit crampy, and am itching to do SOMETHING, but am awaiting dr instrusctions. then, about 2 hrs ago, i noticed some discolored discharge/fluid. not a ton but enough. any thoughts? anyone had this happen? the ultrasonographer mentioned doing an amnio to see if his lungs are mature so we know if i could be induced. also told me to drink lots of water, nbut i drink about 5-7 liters a day. cannot go to the bath room more:)

anyways, just thought i'd see if anyone has any thoughts

Hi Morris!
No thoughts, I don't have answers. But I feel for you. Sounds interesting, please keep us posted on what's going on. I'm sure everything is just fine, you are soon aren't you. This month? Are you really going to have to do an amnio this far? Keep your chin up and good luck;-)

Hi Morris,

I only pop in here once and a while since I get busy in the other forms. I will just give you a quick "reader's digest" of my DD. She was born on Nov, 8 2005 and only weighed 4 lbs and 13 oz's, 18.75 inches. I never really found out why she was so small exactly, a lot of theory, but no real "answer". I was induced at 37 weeks because on the 35th week the us showed she was not growing very well. My fluid levels were low also at the time I had her. I know you are worried and going a little crazy, I was too. I am happy to report my DD is now almost 7 months, very happy and very healthy. She is still only in the 5-10% percentile, but my Dr has said many kiddos born a little small do catch up by the time they are around 3. Keep going to your doctor and if you feel anything strange call right away. I had a million false alarms and I think I drove my Dr crazy, but hey I was nervous the whole time. I became good friends with my Dr by the time it was all said and done! I went to a high risk Dr called a MFS doctor and when I would get worried she would look over and say to me "everyone is different, if we all came out the same our world would be boring. Not everyone has a 8-9 lb baby and it is ok". I hope this helps you some. I do wish you the best of luck with the baby.

Take care,
Jana

PS-HEY CURLY!!! How's Molly??? It's almost time!!!!

Hi Jana! I miss your posts! Have you tried Turbo Jam?? I saw a infomercial, it looks fun.

Molly moves ALL the time, kinda hurts me every now and then!!! I'm so ready but uh, I still got time:(

thanks for the reasurring words. it means a lot for sure. went to regular dr today and i am 1 cm dilated and my cervix is soft. i guess i could hover like that ofr the next 3 weeks, but it was reassuring to know stuff is happening. had my fluid rechecked this afternoon and i am back up a bit which is great. perhpas it is my lack of cardio. sigghhhh. i do miss the heart pumping. just makes me feel so even keeled and better in this expanding body:) but, probably won't care nearly so much when i have my little guy in my arms. total weight gain at this point is 20.5, so hopefully will get fit againsoon. meanwhile i am walking my dog and doing light weights. hope he comes soon!
