Flooring for Workout Room

I have been reading some old posts about flooring for workout rooms. I am thinking of this...

One of the posts I read said she used it and really like it, but I wondered if my feet would stick to it during turns - you know how Cathe loves those turns :D

I really like their tile flex flooring, but it is very expensive!

Anyway, I was wondering if there were any other products that I should look at or if one of these would work?

Thanks!

Last summer I was in the same place as you. I had used puzzle mats for years and my feet stuck on turns, so I decided to install a new floor. I got and installed that tile flex floor from Great Mats. To my absolute horror it has no give, it is not a subfloor, but the floor you are supposed to put on top. I put it over my concrete floor in the basement, it only took about an hour to install. Then I proceeded to do turbokick and got such an injury in my feet I am still dealing with it a year later. Man was I upset, it was such an expensive mistake in so many ways. Then I put in a floor that Cathe used to talk about on her website. I installed the Springstep II subfloor from Stagestep.com and put the tile flex floor over top. I absolutely LOVE it. I always watch my husband as he walks on the floor and you can see the floor slightly "give" as he walks on it. The biggest problem is the floor is very tall and we already have low ceilings. When DH has a little more free time we are putting on a regular pergo type floor on top of the subfloor and using the tile flex tiles in another area. The stage step floor was pretty easy to install and I did much of it myself.

If you have any other questions you can PM me. I am leaving on vacation tomorrow so if I don't get back to you right away I will when I get home.

Good luck.

Thank you!! That helps a lot! I thought they meant that subfloor was what was attached underneath of the actual tile, and would have done the exact same thing as you did - I already have enough problems with my feet and knees, hence the fancy flooring! :D

This helps me some with what I want to do. I was looking at Great Mats Tile Flex. We are moving and I was hoping to get rid of the carpet in my workout space. I have one of the square mats from stage step but the velcro has stopped working so well on the carpet. Now it appears I need a sub floor.
