Flax seed discussion compilation

Hello;
New to the board. I have lots of questions so I decided to do a word search on the things I would like further information on. Great website. I am reposting my summary version of the discussions for those new like myself who would like to see it on one email.

This email is about flaxseed .

Where do you use flaxseed on?
- grind into oatmeal
-put it into smoothies
-salads
-substitute it for vegetable oil or canola oil for baking
-mixed in with peanut butter sandwiches
- in soups
- on cottage cheese

You can heat it to baking temperature (in a 350 degree oven, the internal temperature of food is quite a bit less than that, especially baked goods that contain moisture, which lowers the temperature). You should definitely NOT use flax oil for frying or stir-frying.

Another use not memtioned: substitute about 1 TBSP ground flax blended with about 2 TBSP water for 1 egg in baked recipes.

At our health food store they sell flavored liquid flaxseed, Chili and garlic. It is so yummy. I put it on my salad and now it is my fav. dressing!

The omega 3's available in Flax seed oil can be absorbed through the skin. You don't even have to eat the stuff. I rub it on my feet once a week and put a pair of cotton socks over it. I get my essential fatty acids and have soft feet!

I've been putting a tablespoon of flax oil and a teaspoon of primrose oil in a small glass of orange juice in the morning and just drinking it quickly. I have been doing it for how healthy it is more my inside, but what it does for the outside is a tremendous bonus. My skin, nails, and hair have never looked so good.:D

The essential fatty acids are absorbed by your skin and go to the inside. That's what I'm saying, no calories, but you still get the SAME benefit as drinking it down! I'm currently taking Anatomy and Physiology in college and my professor is a Naturopathic Doctor, and she gave me the affirmative on this one. Indeed you don't have to ingest the stuff to get the health benefits needed.
