Hi again everyone, I had some change of plans. After doing CTX-UB split + CTX Kickbox and KPC combos with a 1.5-lb. glove on each hand, my shoulders are really sore. I don't want to injure them by hoisting a heavy barbell over my head over and over while doing PLB so I did...
CTX Power Circuits (without the hi/lo segment I'm not fond of) x 2. The first round I used a 25-lb. BB and 10-lb. DB's. The second round I used a 35-lb. BB and 12-lb. DB's. I subbed the last set of static lunges with 48 calf raises, at least that's how many I counted while Cathe did the static lunges with DB's. Then I did the ball work in PLB and the ab work in ME and PUB. Whew. I'm pooped.
Joy, for PLB I use 25/30/35/30/25 for leg presses. I could go higher but I have this fear of falling off my fanny lifter. I use 30/35/40/35/30 for static lunges and 35/40/45/40/35 for squats, plie squats and deadlifts. At 45 lbs. max, I am starting to notice some definition in my quads and bulk in my legs. Just a tad. Which makes me want to stop at these weights and do more endurance legwork to see which would give me better results. I'm only 5'1" and bulk would make me look shorter. Also, there is muscle in my inner thighs but it's now pushing out the fat that refuses to go.}( Another reason why I opted for a cardio element today.
If you find you're getting better results from step ups, do more of those. I hear about some people who swear off squats and lunges as these make their legs bulk to high heavens. There's always the element of water retention that happens when you go as heavy as you can. So what may be bulk is just water. But as I always say, stick with what works, and what works for you may differ from what works with others. And yes, those bc pills can really affect your eating. I switched back to Levlite 28 from Orthotricyclen Lo and my belly is no longer bloated, my hair is no longer falling off, and my eating is better. The trade off: I'm breaking out like crazy. But I can deal with this trade off.
Lori H., how, indeed, can you run as much as you do? I have knee issues and that makes me wary of running, although I'm assuming that stepping is just as harsh on my knees. Do you ever feel it in your knees? If so, how do you deal with it?
I hope to catch you all again tomorrow.
