Fitmoms check -week of Feb. 27

Cathlete
Hi,
I decided it was time to start a new post as we had 23 responses last week in our heated discussion. It is hard to believe that 3 of our youngins are 18 months already. Happy 18 months to Max, Bardric and of course Alexis. Alexis has become such a toddler, repeating words and getting so frustrated when she doesn't get her way. It cracks me up. I will put in my workout week later since I can't remember it. I did an anything but cathe week last week, as all
I've been doing was cathe.

Hi there--

Ah, yes 18 months. A very cute age. Mr. B got his first hair cut and is looking like quite the little man. He does not say many real words, but has a real jargoning thing going on. He is the first child I've had who likes to sit (when not trying to climb on the table or onto the deck rail) and play with stacking cups or simple puzzles. He loves baths and Looney Tunes.

And weaning was coming along nicely until he got sick and then because I was worried about dehydration, I let him start nursing at night again. Now we are back at square 1. Oh well, I think he'll be done by the time he goes to college:+

Last week I did
Fri GS BSB+Core Max 1
Sat HCX #2+stretchmax (w/band)
Sun GS CT+KM kick/punch drills
Mon Low Max+GS standing part only
Tues GS BSB+CT timesaver premixes+
Today HCX #3+Core Max 2
Tomorrow-REST

take care
Maggie

Shopaholic--tried to edit, but time had expired.

Those pics of Alexis are sooo cute. I wish we could figure out why our e mail will not send pictures.

thanks
Maggie

Hi all,
Maggie, glad you liked the pics. I sent them out to a few of you, if anyone didn't get them and wants them give me your email. It took 45 minutes to get one of her smiling as first she cried, then later ran out of the photo room. Emy, I sent you the pics but received a notice thast delivery was delayed, strange?

Hi ladies!!! I am still on my "leave" from workouts. I have to get motivated!!!!!

Alexis sounds entertaining! I should send you my email so I can see your lil' beauty.

Maggie, I have no doubt Bardric needed to nurse. :) What are we to do when our babies need comfort???? I would have done the same thing.

I hope I have workouts to post again... one day. :)

Autumn--is your shoulder still hurting?

And about the weaning--I'd got my period back due to the partial weaning and now I'm not sure what will happen in that regard:p. I guess we'll see when that time of month comes around. I've never almost weaned and then gone back to nursing before. I've also never had such a persistant nurser as Bardric. He really loves it.

take care
Maggie

Oh my... I had to log in...it's been so long since I've visited the forum :-( :-( :-( . Been busy again. My mom was here to "view" her home/addition that is being built and I think the stress got to me and I caught the strep throat that the children had (I NEVER catch anything normally). I miss you guys so much when I go through these busy weeks. Hopefully life will slow down soon. Silly as it may sound.... I was reaching a new level of frustration when she wanted to paint the woodwork white and I finally lost it and said "mom...why don't you paint your grand piano white too" - she has this obsession with white (and oh..the piano is a shiny black). Seems so silly when I type this....we finally sat down and agreed to accept the fact that we have NOTHING in common when it comes to decorating, etc. and we just need to learn to live with it!!! She really is a great grandma so I shouldn't complain!!!

Okay...I'm past all that now...onto workouts...or lack of!!! Last week was strep throat week and I did very little. Yesterday and today I had to get back into it and I'm feeling better. I get pretty whiny and irritated when I miss workouts and my husband said at the end of the week...."you REALLY need to work out!". Autumn....once you do a week or so of workouts....you'll get right back into it. I just HATE those first few days...my body rebels a bit, but then all is well. DO NOT worry about your weights when you resume workouts. I used to put myself through loads of misery because I couldn't lift as much after a break, but it's amazing how quick it comes back. My advice is to just do workouts that you have FUN doing and then add in tougher ones. For instance...don't start with Leaner Legs or you'll NEVER begin and you'll be so sore you won't want to do anything again.

Hey Emy...I didn't know you were home birth "minded". I had the last three at home. Let me know if you have any questions!!! I think you'll really enjoy it....well....as much as you can "enjoy" birth. You can get birthing tubs to use at home.... or if you are extremely alternative and weird like me...you can buy a horse trough from Menard's which I liked much better than those other homebirth pools. I can't wait to hear all about your labor.

Briee (long winded again)

Maggie, my shoulder is better... I thought 100%... but I did MuscleMax yesterday and it is a little achey today. I did read about keeping the arms at 90* angles on the archived pages (thanks Kathy for posting that), so I think I will try that.

Now, my knees are talking back after IMAX (Sunday's workout)... my joints are terrible... what the heck is my body going to be like when I am in my 40s?? :) I just inherited the wrong stuff from my ancestors... bad eyesight, bad joints, oh and I've described my body shape before. ;) Oh well, my achey joints and misproportioned parts (is misproportioned a word???) have brought two gorgeous babies into this world. :) Hey wait... my eyesight is bad... no, no my babies are beautiful!! Just joking.

Briee, thanks for the words of encouragement. I am taking your adivce and sticking with the workouts I enjoy... I actually enjoy LL... }(

If I have a third (say a prayer for me ladies) I would love to deliver at home... my DH is the obstacle. Briee, how far are you from MO???? ;)

Take care ladies!

Edited to add: is it disproportioned rather than mis...?

Briee--you crack me up. The whole white wood work thing. Hoo boy. Bummer you got strep. I have not had that in years, but I've had a dreadful diahrrea gut thing 2x in the last 2 weeks.???

Autumn--I used to be home birth minded, but my husband said no way for a couple of reasons. I just decided that it was not a battle I wanted to fight, so I just enjoy being taken care of at the hospital and not having to listen to any household activity (like unexplained crashing noises and bickering, etc--that would inevitably stress me out and make me inclined to get out of bed and deal with it, since hubby is way more relaxed as a parent, which is a good thing in many ways, but not when I am recovering from labor I am thinking). I do hope the two of you are able to come to an agreement of some sort.

I have a lot of friends that have home birthed successfully. With Malcolm my fourth (with downs and a heart defect) I'm glad that I delivered at a level 3 hospital. I'm not sure what would have happened otherwise.

take care
Maggie

I just typed a long response to the homebirth responses and the whole thing just deleted...who knows why. I'm not a happy camper.

Basically what I said in a very long winded way is....NEVER HAVE A HOMEBIRTH IF YOUR DH DOESN'T WANT ONE. It's a disaster waiting to happen. I'll have to type the reason in another post...I'm all typed out over here (can't believe that whole thing was zapped!!!!!).

Autumn just a quickie....YOU LIKE LEANER LEGS (I had to print the whole name for emphasis).....you are a sick person, I like you, but you're sick. I often equate LL as being quite close in nature to giving birth. Being the birth expert you are....you OUGHT to know that they are almost identical. :p :p :p Correct me if I'm wrong!!}( }(

Briee

I'd rather do pullups sets then LL, sometimes I think I'd rather have strep throat. Why do I hate it so much????

Oh Maggie and Briee, I would never expect my DH to deliver our baby if he is not comfortable. I think all that can go wrong scares him... I share too much with him from my experiences. :) He is all for a third baby though.

Yes Briee, I like Leaner Legs. It is one of my favorite lower body workouts!!! I am sick, do you think there is help for this? :) Ok, low ends and natural child birth are almost equal, but my labors and deliveries were relatively easy (don't throw tomatoes... please). :)

Okay, first news is: we're having a girl! The ultrasound was so fun this time. I could see so much more detail on the monitor and could actually tell quite a bit what we were looking at. I have a printout of her profile. I can now say that I am officially excited - weird that I couldn't say that before. I mean I wasn't yet REALLY excited.

Anyway, it's interesting to hear that some of your husband's don't like the idea of home birth. I only say that because my frame of reference is my husband, who is like, you're the one giving birth, whatever you want... I think also the fact that there were no complications with Max coming out and all. I am also excited because my midwife will bring everything, including a birthing tub if I want it, and then clean up all the mess and take it away with her, so there's no hassle at all. Plus, I don't go anywhere, she comes to me - that's the best part.

Briee, do you use a midwife or just your husband or someone else? Also, I told my midwife your episiotomy story and the "if you give me an episiotomy, I'll give you one" (you're hilarious, by the way) and how you tore everywhere and healed beautifully in no time -- and we feel pretty good about my chances of everything being corrected or fixed somehow by the delivery of this baby.

Grandma (my mom) took Max for an overnight stay a few weeks ago, as a trial run for when she will have Max during the birth, and it went beautifully. Previously the longest I had been away from Max was for 8 hours one time, and a few stints of like 3-4 hours. In fact, he was so attached to grandma when I got him back, that he cried when she left. He acted a bit strange towards me at first. Is this the nature of young children? Or something to do with their lack of long term memory? I felt like if it had been a couple of days, maybe he would have forgotten me. But anyway, it's good to know that she can take him and everything will be alright.

Oh, Max is also going nuts currently. He has 12 going on 16 teeth. Yup, 4 coming in at once. What a treat for mom!

I did a few workouts last week, but they escape me right now.

Shopaholic, my computer wouldn't open the sears photos. Can you send them without me having to click the link?

Autumn, I hope your shoulder isn't seriously hurt. I missed what exactly happened to it?

Congrats Emy! I can't send the pics without the link but I will be sending some to my mom who has a scanner then I can email them to you.

Hi Emy!!!! Glad you and "baby girl emy" are doing well. :)

My DH is just afraid of something going wrong, and he said he is intimidated because OB/gyn is my specialty. :)

My shoulder isn't seriously hurt, I don't even know what I did to it. I could barely lift it at one point, but my chiropractor did wonders.

Take care!

Oh I'm soooo happy for you Emy....a baby girl!!!! So...what are ya gonna name her...did you run out and buy some cute little baby girl stuff already???? If you keep posting here, which I hope you intend to do...you won't ever have to switch checkins. You'll breeze right back into the "fit mom catagory" in no time at all and we won't have to "miss you"!! :7 :7 Almost forgot...we didn't have a midwife. I called friend for baby number 4 and another friend for baby number 5 and for baby 6 we didn't call anyone. Except our 11 year old daughter Bethany, who we "thought" would love to see the baby come out. Only problem was, it was 11:00 pm and I wanted it pitch dark so all she could see was from the light of a flashlight under the water in the birthing tub and she was tired and really didn't care at the time. In her words...."it's just another baby being born mom...you're having them all the time". So it's just about as exciting as doing the laundry around here. Now PUPPIES BEING BORN....that's another story...she won't miss that.

Autumm...I think I might do LL sometime this week...maybe...just for you. Okay that's not completely true....it's for my legs too (they hurt just thinking about it).

Briee

Why do they keep making me log in each time I come onto the forum...makes me feel like a stranger, which I currently am...but I don't like feeling like it!!!

Oh Briee! I am so happy I inspired you! }( Of course, I don't know if that is a good thing when we're talkin' LL. :)

Hi all,
I was going to start a new post this week but didn't have the chance. last week I did a firm/fitprime week. this week I am doing all cathe premixes. Alexis had her 18 month check up last week and weighed in at 17.14, still bbelow the chart but measured at 30 inches which put her in the 5% for height. Hope everyone is having a nice week and happy early easter.

Hi everyone. I know I've been AWOL lately. I've been working out though...I have baby Justin on a 10AM nap schedule which allows me to workout before I got to work at 1130. It's working well so far & I've been able to workout a solid 5 days/week. I"m loving Imax3, KickMax, CoreMax, LoMax, and the combo one (forgot what that one is called).

Baby Justin is teething too, when aren't they? He's wonderful & I feel so lucky to have him in my life! We too are still enjoying nursing. My period is not regulated at all. I've had it just twice and it was about 40 days apart. I'm about 40 days late on my 3rd period (and I took a pg test and am NOT pregnant) ;) .

Randy is still fighting shingles & now postherpatic neuralgia. It's tough. He's been diagnosed with bipolar disease too, which is even tougher, but I"m so happy that he's finally being treated! His ongoing pain is making him cranky & difficult to live with...so please don't forget us in your prayers!!!!

Emy, I'm so excited about your pregnancy & upcoming delivery of a new girl!!! Yes!

Briee, Shophalic, Maggie, you're all doing AWESOME!!!! Keep up the good work! :)

Yes, I have quite a bit of baby girl stuff. Interestingly, I bought most of it before I was even pregnant with Max. About 4 or 5 years ago I started buying baby clothes, knowing we would be starting our family in a couple of years. It was just a piece here and there, and now I have a collection of baby girl clothes.

Max is still in his crib, and I don't foresee moving him out anytime soon. What would I do if he weren't "contained" in bed and could crawl out anytime he wanted. My world will change when he is in a regular bed, I'm sure! I'm definitely not ready for that, especially since he is still doing so well in a crib. So, I'm wondering where to put the new baby. I have a play pen, maybe I will use that. It's seems that Max gets all of the new stuff and the decorated nursery, and will I do that for this one? It seems like so much work, not to mention $$$. We'll see.

Shopaholic, Alexis sounds skinny! 17 pounds sounds like nothing on a 30 inch heighth. Max would order you a pound of bacon, but would you eat it! :p (all in good fun)

Melanie, I hope you husband sees improvement. Good luck with that. You seem to be holding up well. Also, you must be close to your work if you workout at 10 and get to work at 11:30, that sounds like a rush! How many teeth for Justin now? Keep up those naps little guy!

Briee, What is little Noah up to, we never hear about him...

Oh you guys were talking about nursing at the beginning of this thread. I don't think I mentioned when I weaned Max. First week of January was when I completed the process. I just was too nauseous and tired to deal with nursing. I could not see myself nursing all the way through pregnancy. Has anyone done that? Max was only eating before going to bed so it was easy for both of us to let that go. Anyway, I expected weaning to be emotional. It wasn't, but it probably would have been if I hadn't been pregnant with morning sickness.

Yes, I'm pretty close to work-- about 25 minutes. I"m the type of person that jam packs my days with as much as I can. So if I workout 10-11am, I have time to shower & tidy up the house & fix lunch by 1130. Then I eat my lunch on the way to work. ;) When I"m idle I feel very ackward. Anyone else have this condition? !?!?!?
