Fit Moms Check in (Week of 7/31 - 8/6)

Good morning ladies! I hope you had a great weekend.

As of yesterday I have lost another pound, which is so strange since my caloric intake has increased dramatically and I have not been eating very clean. I guess it must be the P90X workouts & Cardio Coaches making me use up more calories than I thought. I’m starting to see some definition, particularly in my abs, which I’m sure will be more evident once I lose another 5 pounds. Last night I had DH take my measurements since I had not done so in 1 ½ months. To my surprise I’m down another 6.75 inches in that short amount of time. I wonder where I will be in a month after using P90X.

On taps for today is Cardio Coach Volume 1. Right now I am limiting my running to 2 times a week at 35 minutes each time while I’m trying to get back into running since my injury. Next week I will be changing one of those workouts for a 45 minute one.

Have a great day!

Hello Ladies!

Yesterday's Cardio Coach workout went well. My injury was bothering me a little so I had to back off and only do Challenge 1 & 2, but I was still working hard, maybe a little too hard. Today's workout is P90X Shoulders & Arms. My upper body definitely needs work.

Last night DH informed me that he will be out of town all next week again. Hopefully the kiddos will be good for me while he is gone.

Well, I need to get started working. Have a great day!

Kristi- what is cardio coach?

Anyway, last week I got in a 3 mile run w/ major stair running, 1 hour at the gym, Brand New Butt step and weights, Boot Camp, and 1.5 mile run with a 1 mile swim.

It is so hot (as it is in much of the Midwest) that running is really brutal. I went for another 3 mile run w/stairs and had to walk at mile 2.

Today I am going to the gym at 4:30 for one hour. I'm getting bored there; maybe I'll do the same cardio machines on different settings.

Have a great day.

Hi Kristan! I completely understand about the heat. The same heat wave is hitting us too. Try to keep hydrated while out running. I'm keeping my running indoors on the treadmill until the temperatures cool down.

The best way to describe Cardio Coach is it is like having a personal trainer pushing you through your workout. They are in audio form, either CD or MP3. You can use it with any cardio equipment, bike, treadmill, eliptical, stairclimber, etc. Here is the website in case you are interested, www.cardiocoach.com. The website can better explain this than I can. They used to have a free download available. You might want to ask Customer Service if they still offer that. During the Father's day sale I bought Volumes 1-5 because I have heard so many great things about them. So far I have only tried volumes 1 & 2 which are only about 35 minutes in length. They are great. I think volumes 3 & 4 are 45 minutes and volumes 5 & 6 are an hour+. I'm looking forward to trying the other ones.

Try to stay cool! Is Gus still doing well with the medication?

hello ladies!!!

kristi-i am so glad p90x is working so well for you! i've started my rotation on sunday. i love it so far. this morning i did shoulders and arms and my arms feel like toast today:D what does your rotation look like? i hope your injury heals quickly.

kristan- i have vol 5 of cardio coach and love it! i am planning on adding to my collection. definitely let us know how gus is doing.

enjoy your workouts and your day ladies!

Hello Ladies! Today is supposed to be cardio, but I need to go downtown during lunch instead. My work has given me 3 free passes for the circus and I need to exchange them for actual tickets. DS is so excited. The event won't be for another 2 1/2 weeks, but I want to get good seats while they are still available.

SunnyD - How is Jaden doing with his walking? Is he all over the place or still in the unsteady first steps? Is he eating table food yet? I'm glad you are liking your P90X rotation. You are doing the lean rotation aren't you? I decided to try the classic rotation. For the next couple of weeks it looks like this:

Sunday - Chest & Back, Ab Ripper X
Monday - Cardio (I'm trying to run)
Tuesday - Shoulders & Arms, Ab Ripper X
Wednesday - Cardio (this has been a rest day for me for right now.)
Thursday - Legs & Back, Ab Ripper X
Friday - Cardio (running)
Saturday - Scheduled Rest Day

Kristan - I should warn you. SunnyD was the one that pushed me over the edge and enabled me to buy Cardio Coach. :) LOL I had been eyeing them ever since I was in the beginning of my pregnancy with DD, but kept talking myself out of them.

Have a great day ladies!

:)

kristi-lol, you know us catheites!
your rotation looks good! so you've decided to run for cardio instead of doing tony's? good idea.

today i did abripperX and a 3 mile run on the treadmill.

my company is going to pay for a gym membership for interested employees, woohoo! they are also thinking of offering longer lunch periods to allow you to workout during lunch. i am on the wellness committee.

jaden (that little bugger) is walking all over the place now. he will fall and get right back up to walk. i can't get over him!!!

enjoy your day ladies!

That is awesome about your company paying for a gym membership. At dh's work, his boss rewards people who quit smoking for one year. Dh quit and got $100!!! Last January, they had a biggest loser competition, but it kind of fizzeled out quickly. It was kind of unfair to those who really did not need to lose weight. Dh lost about 10 pounds, but he did not really need to.

I am going to my mom's for the weekend. The kids are excited. That means I need to get off this computer and start laundry, clean, pack, etc....There is so much to do....

I registered my son for K yesterday and he starts next week. I will miss him so much! He seems like such a big kid these days. He loves going to "Grandma Peggy's", so we are taking this mini trip for him.

Oh, I have been doing ctx for the first time and I love it! It is so perfect for me. I don't have much more than an hour a day (if that) to workout so I am loving this series!

Hello Ladies! Today I am so exhausted. Last night we had to take DS to the ER twice, once from 7-10:30 p.m. and the other time from 3-5 a.m. He has been having a hard time breathing and wheezing. So far it has taken 2 breathing treatments and numerous uses of his inhaler to finally get it under control. Today he has been doing okay. I took him his prednisone early this morning after the pharmacy opened. Lets hope it continues to do the job.

Workout wise I had to cut my workout short yesterday. DS needed his inhaler during lunch so I had to take it to him. Today will be an unplanned rest day because I am to exhausted to do much other than work. I'm going to try to take a short nap during lunch.

SunnyD - I think it is great your work is focusing on fitness and paying for gym memberships. It will keep employees healthier and more productive. A longer lunch period helps out tremendously. My GM is letting me take 1 1/2 hour lunches so I can workout (I go into work 1/2 hour early). Yeah for Jaden and walking! That is great!!

Sara - Have a fun weekend at your mom's house. Lately I have been thinking about DS starting K next year and I am already sad but excited for him. Good luck with DS starting school next week! CTX is a good workout, especially "Meaner" Legs. That is one intense workout. Enjoy!

This weekend we have plans to go to my niece's 5th birthday party. However with DS's asthma flaring up I might change my mind. They live 2 hours away and we would only be there for about 4 hours. I'm not sure if it is worth the trip even though I would love to see everyone.

Have a great weekend!

Kristi- I think both you and Sunny are enablers!

Sunny- cool about the gym membership. My firm has a corporate rate for the YMCA, but it's still $76 per month for "full family metro" (meaning we can go to any Y, and childcare is free).

Sara- my DD starts KDG in a few weeks as well. And her sister starts montessori at the same place, leaving me alone with the baby twice a week (I work the other 3 days). Maybe I can finally get something done around here.

Today I did 1997's "step Fit". It seems dated only by costumes/set; the video itself kept me interested. I only do that one about once a year.

My right hip hurts! Not sure why. I feel old. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact I went running last weekend to the pool. As I was getting dressed after the pool, I noticed my shoes were different. I must have looked like a crazy person pushing my stroller in 100 degree heat with 2 mismatched shoes wearing a swim suit, running bra and tank top. Nice look.

hello fitmommies,

today is a rest day for me..whoohoo!

Kristi-i am sooooooo sorry to hear about ds. i truly hope he gets better soon and you can get some rest. i know that had to be so scary for you and ds. (((hugs)))))

Sara & Kristan- my ds is also starting kindergarten in a couple of weeks. i am scared yet excited at the same time. we received his list of needed supplies for school. so i was shopping for him all day yesterday.

i think it's awesome my company is implemented a wellness program. shows a real concern for their employees. we had our first meeting yesterday. in addition to the gym membership there is a nutrionalist and training provided!

have a wonderful weekend!!
