Fit Mom Check-In

kristi

Cathlete
Hello Fit Mommies! I was inspired to start this new check-in because I don't feel like I belong in the Postpartum Check-in anymore.

Here is a little bit about myself. I'm a wife to my high school sweetheart and mother to Alexander (4 years old) and Annamarie (10 months old). I also work full time for an advertising agency. So far I'm really pleased with my weight loss and am now down to what I weighed prepregnancy with DS. I would still like to lose anywhere from 7-11 more pounds but I know that it will be slow going. Currently, I am recovering from a possible knee/muscle injury (not sure exactly what because I have not been to the doctor), but before this happened I was running on a regular basis and even ran my first race, a 10K, on July 4th. I'm hoping to get back to running on a more consistent basis as soon as I feel healed enough. In the meantime I am focusing on walking since it does not cause me much discomfort and weight training. Also, I just traded/bought P90X and should be getting them in the mail this week.

Well that is enough about me, tell me about you! Please feel free to join me. :)

Best Wishes,

Hey Kristi,

I will join you! It's always good to talk to mommies!

Let's see about me. Well Marley is now 8 mos old, the one and only. Currently a SAHM, working on completing my Masters Degree and then back to work soon. I have still in rehab from knee surgery 5 weeks ago and making progess, but slowly. Knee surgery is really difficult and it has been an uphill journey. Looking forward to getting back to it real soon. I do manage to get at least 1 hour of a work out in, 30 on the bike and 30 upper body or abs. I was 2 lbs away from pre preggo weight before the injury, but now back up to 8 lbs. Bad eating has been my 100 problem, but I am over that now.

That's about it for me. Look forward to talking with you and hope others will join!

Jana

Hi Jana and thanks for joining me! It sounds like you are on the fast track to recovery. Great job on the workouts even while in rehab. It must be so hard trying to recover from knee surgery, taking care of the demands of a baby, and completing your Masters. I'm with you, bad eating will do it to you every time. Wouldn't it be nice if we could workout and eat whatever we wanted? I know, I'm living in a dream world.

Well, I'm off to finish getting stuff ready for tomorrow. DH is out of town on vacation for the whole week with his motorcycle buddies. I'm praying God will give me the patience to withstand the whole week with the kiddos. DS, while mostly a great kid, has been testing boundaries a lot lately.

Take care,

Today I am going to do a full body weight workout. I just received a trade in the mail this weekend so I think I will be trying it out. It is Kelli Robert's Straight Up Sculpt. I'm sure it is pretty old, probably late 90's but it seems like a good workout.

I'm so excited. Sometime this week I should be getting my P90X DVDs in the mail. I traded for some of them and then bought others.

I'm going to join you over here as well. Gus is 8 1/2 months old and my girls are 5 and 3. I am a parttime lawyer. Kristi, my husband is an art director at a local agency. He works ridiculous hours- for instance, last night he didn't come home (but he did come home to help me get the kids ready for school). He does animation/effects/edit work on TV spots; not so much print work anymore.

Gus has me stressed out. He's developed this head tilt as well as his 4th right ear infection. I am convinced the two are related. I'm exchanging calls with his pediatrician to determine the solution. The head tilt doesn't have the muscle tightness one would expect to see from torticollis. Other than his sleepless nights, he's a happy boy. Not crawling yet, but rocking and creeping.

My week was good (for me):
Monday- 3 1/2 mile run/stair running
Tuesday- gym
Weds- StepWorks and stability ball add on
Thurs- 15 minutes of hi/lo from Mindy Mylrea and TIVO'd Supersets
Fri- nothing
Sat- "Steamin' Cardio"
Sun- nothing

Kristan

Hey Kristi

Are you trading on videofitness? I just joined that and am looking for a Turbo Jam before I decide to buy it. Can you give some details on what you are doing with the trade.

Thanks!

Hi Kristan and Welcome! With DH working those "ridiculous hours" you must be so happy that he helped get the kids ready for school. His job sounds really interesting. My DH is Director of IT so I can completely relate to the ridiculous hours. For some reason computer problems don't happen M-F 8-5. LOL

I hope you are able to find a solution to Gus' head tilt. DD had ongoing ear infections for the first 8 months. I was living at the doctor's office literally every week. I'm glad they finally put tubes in her ears at 8 months. Do you think that might be a solution eventually if this doesn't go away? Let us know what the pediatrician says. At least he is a happy boy. BTW, your workouts look good!

Good morning Jana! Marley is so adorable! Yes I am trading at VF. Since I did not use Cathe's CTX DVDs very often I decided to trade them for over half of the P90X DVDs. I wanted to trade the whole set, but I didn't have any takers. The other DVDs I am buying through someone at YaYas.

Good morning ladies! Today's workout will be Low Max. I'm not sure if I will be able to make it all the way through it due to my knee not being fully healed. If it starts to give me problems then I will switch to walking.

Yesterday I received all of my P90X DVDs in the mail. I'm so excited. I'm hoping to start use them next week.

Have a great day!

Hey Everyone!

Kristi you will have to let me know how P90X works out for you. I have been looking into that one, but not sure about it yet.

I did my PT this morning and then some of the GS series. I need to get in Coremax this afternoon. I have been crazy busy with school stuff this week already so I need to remember to squeeze the core max in!

I miss LowMax;( . I really like that one! Maybe one day again I will be able to be on the step again!

You guys have a great day and a great workout!
jana

Kristi-i found you! great idea....:D I didn't know you were married to your high school sweetheart, how cute. my dh also works for an advertising company.

hello to all the other fit mommies.

jana- take the plunge p90x is so worth it!

a bit about me, i am a happily married mother of two handsome boys. if you don't believe me..check out my avatar:D
i have been working out with cathe for a few years. i started out by dumping my gym membership wben i had my first son because i hated the idea of taking him to another daycare after he was in one all day long. i've been a sahm after having my second ds uptil until 3 weeks ago. i was doing both cathe and the gym and i am about to cancel the gym again. it works so much better for me when i workout early in the morning before anyone else wakes up.

have a great evening ladies.

thanks again to kristi for starting this check-in!

Good morning Kristan, Jana, & SunnyD! SunnyD I'm so glad to see you joining us!! Your boys are so handsome. They will be heartbreakers with the girls.

Yesterday I was too busy at lunch to get in Low Max. Okay, I opted to make homemade biscuits instead for a guy at work's birthday today. I also made homemade blueberry muffins for DS, his favorite, and made some extra for work as well last night. On today's schedule will be a short (30 minute) total body workout, probably on my own. I plan to go pick up DS's 4 year old portrait studio pictures during lunch as well. Ever since he was a baby I've always had his pictures taken every 6 months to see how much he is changing. I'm doing the same thing with DD. They grow up so fast. Next week I plan to start using P90X and hopefully upping my cardio. In the meantime I'm still keeping my cardio low impact for the time being.

Have a great day!
Kristi

hey kristi girl....

i love homemade biscuits!!:9

today i did a lower body workout from a muscle and fitness magazine. i have DOMS already. this was my first time doing a workout from a magazine.

yes, the little ones do grown up very quickly.

let me know how you like your p90x workouts.

Hey Kristi and Sunny!

Sunny your boys are so handsome! It's a good thing you are a super fit mom, you are going to have to fight all those girls off your boys!!!!

Kristi-homemade biscuits sound so yummy! Have you started the P90x workouts yet? I want to get them, I just need to save up some more $$ since I am not working right now, got to be tight with my money! Do give details about what you like/dislike about them and how they rate with Cathe. I do all the GS series and PUB right now for my arms, but need to change it up so I am looking into other upperbody workouts. I can't work my lower body for about 2-3 more months due to the surgery. I take that back, I can only work hamstrings right now w/weights, no quads. I know that sounds weird....
I did my bike for 30 mins today followed by GS shoulders and also the shoulders from Oxygen this month. They feel good! I also got in coremax 1 too.

Well, I am off to bed! See you guys tomorrow!

Kristi- I love keli roberts. My first step tape was from her- around 1994 or so. I did it a few months back and it didn't really even seem dated. I did her "Step it Strong" yesterday. I really liked it. It makes me very sore.

Gus had xrays- didn't show anything to explain the tilt.

There are few things the ped. it looking at. One is 'silent' reflux, believe it or not.
While he doesn't puke or spit up, he does freak out at night (arches his back, etc) and the head tilt can be a symptom too.

TOmorrow I'd like to do "steaming cardio" which is very firm-y. Like it though.

We had a big storm roll through. 400,000 people without power. My neighborhood is trashed- trees every where, etc. My power is on, which is good because it's been about 100.

Good morning ladies! Yesterday was a rest day. I had to run some errands during lunch instead of working out. Today may be the same because DD was up last night with yet another ear infection. Fortunately the ENT doctor will be calling in a prescription for ear drops. I'll go pick it up during lunch. I'm happy I don't have to take DD to the doctor, but at least it has been 1 1/2 months since DD had her last ear infection and that was a week after getting tubes. At least I'm not at the doctor's office literally every week like I was before DD had tubes put in.

Anyway, DH is coming home today. YEAH!! The kids have been really good. I was worried that DS would be testing his boundaries this week but he has been on his best behavior. Just in case, I don't check in this week

Jana - I won't be starting P90X until Monday. Yesterday I set up my rotation. My goals are to do a push-up on my toes and an unassisted pull-up by my birthday (mid September). Right now I can't do one to save my soul. LOL I'm also incorporating some of Cathe's workouts and running.

Kristan - I'm glad you still had power especially with the heat. Wow 400,000 people without power. That is horrible! We are experiencing the heat wave too. Our temperatures this week have ranged from the low to mid 90's with the heat index in the high 90's up to 100. I really liked Kelli Robert's Straight Up Sculpt. It did not seem dated at all which I was worried about. I was even sore the next day. I hope they find out what is wrong with little Gus. Silent reflux? I've never heard of it, but hopefully if that is the case they can treat him and it will stop the tilt.

Just in case, I don't check in this weekend, I hope everyone has a fun and enjoyable one!

Kristi

hello ladies,

thanks for the compliments on my boys:D :D :D

Kristi-now you've gotten me excited to start p90x. i am thinking 8/1. sorry to hear about annamarie's ear infection. i hope she gets better soon.

kristan-for some reason where i live whenever they even mention rain our power goes out..;o(

yesterday i kickmax and on thursday i did the upperbody workout from muscle and fitness hers. while doing that workout i was watching p90x shoulders and arms and got really excited. to start this rotation.

and for the most exciting news of all...jaden started walking on thursday!!!!!!!!! both thurs and friday he's been taking about 3-4 steps before falling down.

Hi....I think I will join if you ladies don't mind!! However, my computer had to be sent off to get fixed. I get online when I am at my inlaws so I will be more faithful to this thread when my computer returns!!

I am a SAHM of 3: 2 boys ages almost 6, 4 and 1 girl age 19 months. My oldest starts kindergarten on Aug 10 and he got all of his supplies today. He is excited. I, on the other hand, will miss him dearly. We have been at home for almost 6 years now. This is such a change. Plus, his younger brother will have some adjusting to do when Tyler is not around all the time.

As for working out, I have been in a slump lately. A while back, there was a thread on a 10 day master cleanse. I am going to try this starting Monday. I got all my ingredients today. I am doing it to mainly "clean out", but losing a few pounds would be nice as well.

As far as weight loss, I would like to lose about 10 pounds. Acutally, I don't care what I weigh, but I would like to be a bit tighter and have my clothes fit better.

I just bought the CTX series. I am going to start it after I am done with my summer cleaning (cabinets, closets, toys, curtains, windows, etc.) This cleaning has to be done during my workout time :(.

I am looking forward to getting to know some more moms. Talk Soon!
