Firm Ballroom Aerobics-real or fake VHS? Please help!

I hope it's alright to post this here, but I would really appreciate some help from any of you who might own this VHS.

I recently purchased the Firm's Ballroom Aerobics from someone on another forum. I just got it yesterday, and although the quality of the tape is good, I am almost certain that it is a copy, a fake, and not an authentic Firm VHS. It came in a plain white cover which is how the original FBA was packaged, but the VHS tape itself looks like just a regular VHS tape with a simple white label on the front of it with the words Ballroom Aerobics typed on it. Period. Nothing about the Firm, no lasered printing like all the other Firm VHS tapes I've ever seen has on it, it doesn't look anything like a Firm VHS tape.

I would really appreciate any info before I contact the seller about this. I don't want to make a false assumption. Thanks!

Sorry can't help. I was wondering though. Could you contact The Firm and ask them. I would think they would like to help as it identifies possible counterfiters. Just a thought...

Hi
I had that Firm Ball room aerobics, which I had ordered directly from the Firm and it did come in a plain white box and the VHS tape looked like they must have run it off themselves and had a plain white label typed with Ballroom aerobics. That was years ago and I sold it on the firm ya yas board about 4 years ago. I found CAthe and sold all my old firm tapes. I have never regretted it.
So you may have an "original".

PS Does it play at the beginning about getting the best results is by combing cardio with weights? I'm trying to remember if that was on there too. I hardly ever did this one because I got bored with all the cha cha chas.

i know the firms' tapes are copy protected b/c i tried to make a copy of a classics and a firm parts to dvd and it wouldn't let me.not saying its not possible if some are clever but i don't know the secrets to get past it.possible that the label was put in by them b/c the older firm lables fell off my vhs tape too. just a though but certainly nothing wrong with trying to find out just to be on the safe side.

It is an original. I had one also. Also some of my other old Firms are like that too. I bought them directly from the Firm. I think they were made available only to those on the Firm mailing list and not really marketed commercially.

Just like some of the old firm users are saying, your video seems to be legit. The firm back then would make premixes like this and send market them only to people on the firm mailing list. Actually, it's a compiliation the step aerobic segments of "tortise" & "hair". Two videos where traci long was the instructor. It did come in a plain white box with a plain label just as you described. I still have mine. If I remember correctly, it was only about $10 and was used as an incentive for another purchase (I don't recall which one).

They also did this for "Power Cardio" which was completed but never sold because the Firm's company changed hands. Later it was re-edited, packaged and sold under a different title.

And what someone else in this forum stated was also correct.. the firm made their videos so that copying them would create a very poor picture quality. If you have a good picture, it's also a great indication that your video is legit. Heck, who knows, one day it might even be a collectors item.
