Firm abs again?

Hi everyone - my son is now 14 months old and I have lost all the weight I gained when I was pregnant. In fact, I might actually be in better shape now ... except for my abs. When I'm standing it seems ok but when I'm working out and doing planks or anything like that, the skin around my midsection is really loose and hangs. Yuck! Will this ever get toned up again? Any tips? Should I be doing abs every day? My diet is healthy and I try to work out 4 times a week.
Thanks for all of your help!!!

Hi, Congrats on the weight loss, that's awesome!

My baby is 8 weeks old (via c-section) and I just got the "Lose your mummy tummy" DVD by Julie Tupler. I had her book for pregnancy and wasn't faithful with the exercises but they really do seem to work. The DVD is excellent, it shows you how to check for a diastasis and has a program for working on repairing the split of the abdominal muscles regardless of when you gave birth.

I wish I'd been using it longer so I could say it's worth it but I just got it, it does appear to work though. The 3 people exercising all look fantastic and they are all recent moms with babies under 12 weeks. She also sells a velcro splint that you can use to pull the muscles together while exercising or even just under your clothes to remind you to keep your muscles tight.

I hope this helps, good luck!! ...let me know if it works for you, if you decide to get it.

Best,
Steph

Muscles are one thing, and stretched out skin is another. Aside from plastic surgery there is nothing to be done about the saggy skin. It has nothing to do with the muscles underneath. My youngest is almost seven, and while my abs are rock solid beneath it all, my abdominal skin just hangs when I lean over- like 4 inches of saggy skin. When I'm standing you can't tell. I have never been overweight (other than pregnancy), and I eat very well. I have been to a few trainers and plastic surgeons for their advice, and they all said the same thing: surgery would be the only option. I don't want it gone that bad...I've lived with it for this long, I guess I'll just keep my sag as a badge of motherly honor.
